Chat GPT for Grasshopper
In this tutorial we will be exploring the power of Chat GPT as a tool to use alongside Grasshopper. Chat GPT is an artificial intelligence language model designed to engage in conversational interactions and generate human-like responses based on the input it receives. It’s a powerful tool that can be used to assist us in making our work in Grasshopper simpler and quicker, and there are a couple of ways we can make full use of it: It can be used to give step-by-step instructions on how to setup our work in Grasshopper, but is at its most powerful when used to write code.
We will begin by examining how Chat GPT can guide us with simple Grasshopper tasks, such as a the creation of a simple attractor algorithm, and evaluate its accuracy and effectiveness. We will then examine more advanced workflows that will allow us to auto-generate Grasshopper Components with Chat GPT, and write code we can copy and use inside a C# Grasshopper component.

thanks for the content, but ı tried to fractal tree and ı got a bunch of error for example newDirection lines or depth content cant be found. how can ı fix those error, ı tried your GPT codes and also mines to but still error is same

Hi Fatih! We look into troubleshooting errors and guides for prompting Chat GPT in the later tutorials of this course, however a couple of things you could try include: 1. Fast forward to the end of the video for our Chat GPT feedback tip - see if Chat GPT gives you a better answer. 2. Just try talking to Chat GPT - explain its errors and ask it to have another go at eityehr correcting them, or starting from scratch. 3. Just create a fresh window and ask it again with no context - sometimes this helps. Are you using Chat GPT 3.5 or 4?

@@grasshoppertutorials ı'm using Chat GPT3.5, I asked 5 6 times from different tabs and devices, almost all gave different answers, but I could not solve my problem. but I found an addon for blender and it worked just fine. I feel like I betrayed the rhino, but just for this

@@fatihyildirim9823 haha, nice. I just dumped about five or six hours into this workflow, with zero results and many deep thoughts about frustration/human machine interface. I'll probably let this sit a while until the UI is actually more for humans and not so brutally opaque...

@@noahsark99 were you using version 3.5 or 4.0? The results can obviously very, however we’ve had mostly successful outcomes using 4.0 to write C# code

Grasshopper is a product like MD, It is kinda between traditional analysis tool and more advanced ones. AI will wipe them all 😂

The ceiling for AI is super high and exciting, but Grasshopper is a great tool for very specific problems. AI is currently only able to service more broad problems and is incredibly academic & less useful in industry. I think longer term you will find a hybrid Grasshopper-AI tool is what replaces this type of design, rather than AI making everything redundant.
