@@1stCallipostle I'm sorry but how is Magic the Gathering not equally as popular as Yu-Gi-Oh? A Google Trends search shows that Magic is a good chunk ahead of both Pokemon TCG and Yu-Gi-Oh world wide.

agreed, most of the kids in my school did not know or care about the card game rules/mechanics of most TCGs. the only TCG, that was actually played was Yugioh xD

You either collect them and maybe trade or you actually play the trading card game... which while was the points of the cards.. can be considered weird as (I think) it's in the minority of the people who get the pokemon cards

@@captainzuper2506 When I was at school, YGO! was really the only one played both because the anime was coming out and the others were either too mature and complicated (MtG at the time, oh how the tables turn) or just we played the GB games for Pokémon instead of the TCG.

@@SMPandanic yes, pokemon cards were a bad case, despite their huge popularity. i only knew 2 kids, who even knew the pokemon TCG's rules (or at least they believed they know the rules), most kids did not even care tho. But also for other TCGs like Digimon, Duel Masters, Magic or even some sports trading cards, most kids would only collect and trade them without playing

Amazing. The idea where someone would think "Trading Card Game" is a game where you trade cards, is... exasperatingly logical. Such an obvious misunderstanding that I would have never thought of it. Like, I want to say, "I can see why you would ask that, but HOW CAN YOU ASK THAT?!" I admit that I have wondered if Bae sometimes just fakes ignorance of certain stuff. But this is such a basic misunderstanding, there's NO WAY she's faking it. And yet... HOW could you never accidentally acquire this basic knowledge of TCG's? To be fair, Magic: the Gathering, the first TCG, is only 30 years old. Baseball cards, for example, date back to the 1800s. For all that time, people have simply been collecting and trading them.

Some cards are used for collecting, particularly if you have something like Charizard 1st edition, or Blue Eyes White Dragon 1st Edition, and particularly if they're graded 9 or higher, you can get a lot of money for those, for instance a 1st edition BEWD in mint condition could go for as much as 15000$. But most cards are used for playing the card game, you collect them so that you can play, and most of them are quite fun.

Absolute “Bae…” moment. Though, to be fair, the Pokémon TCG is the one most people just collect and not play - remember that varus lockdown craze a few years ago? Also it’s more ‘normie’ than YGO! or MtG (until they started doing all the xovers) plus they have the video games - so why play with cardboard when you have the actual Pokémon on your console?

Clickbait title lol. Where's the Pokemon mention? It was just Yugioh and Magic. Should have kept to that cause people still will click since Yugioh is memory serves me right is still the bigger card game than Pokemon. I see more tournaments for Yugioh and Magic than Pokemon in the wild.
