All this improves performance.

People don't always steal cars for it's value, in fact, more older cars with poor security are stolen than newer cars. The main reason is to use it to commit other crimes where it won't be traced back to the criminal. My $1500 Toyota Celica isn't worth stealing, but I've still got a $20 tracker on it.

+nathanshome A lot of that depends on the part of the country you are in. If you're in a more liberal place like NYC or California then I agree. In places such as Florida or Texas, however, I'd say it's a different story. It is sad how so many seem to stick up for the criminal though.

joe Costello The only reason I'd do it myself is because even if you have to call the cops they take too long to respond and it takes too long to do anything with them. My truck was broken into yesterday and my really nice multitool was stolen, it took one police officer 5 minutes to even respond to the call, 8 minutes after to get there. If I see the guy again, i"m gonna suplex him and then call the cops.

Trust me, my dad's car was stolen out of a parking garage in Arlington. They found it in Rhode Island. The car? A 2004 Toyota Celica with 340,000 miles on it. The only thing my dad's not happy about is the fact that everything that was in the front seats or in the console was thrown away. That includes his rubber wristband that he got when he took all of us to Disney for spring break when we were kids. At least the guy didn't take his goalie pads...

No, they tend to be the more common transportation devices and work tools, such as the Honda Accord, Civic, and full-sized pickups from Chevy and Ford. Older examples of the above are at real high risk due to their lack of security systems, and high demand for replacement parts. A few years ago, a guy I knew had his 1991 Honda Accord stolen right out of the parking lot of the apartment complex he was living in.

China was very nice though, I loved it. You just gotta watch your stuff and chain it right. That is all :) thievery is super punishable there so they don't steal cars as much. Just bikes and stuff, they haul them into a truck. Overall, it's nice where I went (chengdu)

+Chris Smith the last time the cops told me to "cease pursuit" I said "got it"... Of course, I lied. Back when I had my 2004 Honda Civic, a guy stole it, and my dad and I saw it happen. At the time, my dad had a 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo, so catching up to my Civic was not a problem. The guy was going flat out in a 115hp econo-box, while my dad wasn't even giving 30%, and we were gaining on him. He eventually stopped to get out and run, tripped, and then I whooped his dumb ass before the cops showed up, got in my car, and my dad and I drove home. Moral is: don't steal from a guy whose dad owns a Porsche and is willing to give chase.
