Chasing Bolts - the hunt to capture the perfect bolt of lightning ⚡🌩 | ABC Australia
Ойын-сауық
Moisture, lift and an unstable atmosphere. When these three ingredients come together, that's where you'll find storms, and where there are storms, there are storm chasers - people who travel thousands of kilometres to chase wild and dangerous weather. They are on the hunt to capture the perfect bolt of lightning flashing across the skies. They are chasing bolts.

Thanks Jordan for sharing part of your passion. This was amazing to watch and learn about the process needed to capture the perfect shot!
This is the sort of program the ABC should be making... no agendas, no endless womens issues, just a good entertaining show.
This is just beautiful. What an awesome piece of art. I cannot begin to describe the impact this had on me. Thanks to all the participants. Kylie, you are an absolute hero as a human being and Mum. Much love to you. I wish you all good bolts and stay safe.
Stunning, stunning & stunning!!! Thank goodness Australia has such talented people contributing to our priceless ABC 👍
Love it! Great work Chris & Tyne!
The build up in the north is a real beauty of nature
So awesome, I'm speechless. Awesome people getting exhilaratingly close to nature at it's most magnificent. And they call it "Living in the moment". WOW!
I personally liked the informative voice over at the beginning. A tasteful insight into the background of the Bolt chasers pleasingly grounded these adventurers. You nailed it.
What a fantastic story. That is one of my greatest passions. Excellent pictures and scenery. My heart goes out to the lady who's daughter is stricken with brain chemistry disorder, I myself have daughter with brain chemical deficiency and its extremely difficult to manage, but manage some how. She's correct that it makes you a better person in many ways. Lots of love from the north eastern u.s.
Omg this has me selling up! I’m so terrified of lightening and a storm is expected tonight but my phobia is so strong I am already terrified! But watching this has really shown me how my fears are preventing me from living. And I want to see a storm now! Amazing stories from all these bolt chasers! So nice seeing the child at the end get excited too and what amazing strength the mum has, all so fearless, love it ❤
This was beautifully produced! As someone who has followed these chasers for a while, it was great to get to know them a bit better and see their behind-the-scenes action. Can't wait for the next storm!
Truely electrifying
Absolutely brilliant work 👏 I have had the pleasure of chatting with both Kylie and Jordan on multiple occasions and they are true blue legends. Well done to all involved.
Awesome film! It represents exactly my feelings! Congrats for this great work!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent work Jordan.
I can totally relate to my fellow chasers in this story
Beautifully put together 👌
That was a beautiful perspective from different people. I thoroughly enjoyed that, especially the strength the last lady had, especially with her autistic daughter. Xo
Such a great presentation. Would love to go up there one wet season and see it!
What a superb documentary! I also love the accompanying music. Each one of these storm chasers are remarkable human beings who follow their dreams to get to see those bolts up close and personally. I love it when people do what they love to do, because I realize how happy they are! That's why Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel does what he does, and his father inspired him to do what he loves doing. I wish I'd had that type of support growing up, but I do now. I truly believe I wouldn't be here today if I wasn't doing what I love to do so much, and that's singing. Thank God for Pat Metheny, who himself may not sing, but what a musician and amazing human being!
Phenomenal camera work by all involved. Well put together too. Your our ABC!
Fantastic! I had more than a few goosebumps moments. Kylie, can fully understand your passion to get out there in amongst it. Incredible images and footage every one and thanks ABC ⚡️⛈🌩
Great Piece ABC, thanks
A wonderful segment!
Stunning work. Best thing I've watched in some time
Love it. Excelent work on the timelapse. One question. ABC stamp at the end says 2002? Would love to have seen this earlier. 🤔

Booooo. Haha. Sorry about that!
Also, please do credit all the music in this documentary, because I'd love to know who performs what. I especially love this song at the end of this program. The singer sounds familiar. Thank you so much.
That was fantastic! A great insight into humans and nature!
Wow Wow wow what a great, awesome & beautiful Aussie ABC doco mother nature at her very best thankyou
So Good. Brilliantly done. See you out there Kylie, Jords and Dan.
Fabulous vid - but was it really produced in 2002 (see right at the end of credits)?

People complaining about the voiceover, maybe kids are the ones watching this? No harm in more education
❤❤❤❤❤
Great visuals, but why all those "+" signs over those magnificent skyscapes? If it's Nature that's the focus, why apply some human graphic over the top? Only detracts from what is meant to be seen.
I agree With Jordan 100% !!! I can look at clouds build All Day! I want to see And know why & how does any of this happen! Lightning? Tornado? Supercell? Hurricane!!! Ect …. Love weather documentaries as much!!
What about doing SEQLD chasers,
I am a Nature Photographer. In many ways. Lightning as well. Been doing it for over 20 years. & I love it! I truthfully, Love Storm's then Clear Days. I believe in a lot of Clear days, are quite boring. Yet with Storm's. There is no way to Explain. Its beyond amazing! I deeply love it! I have gotten thousands of pics! Just of Lightning 🌩 .. Yet can't wait to get more. I have gotten My favorite Volcano hit, 7 times. One bolt. & even more. Got it on video too. I have gotten so many pics & Videos. & I deeply love Nature. & I will keep doing it too
I admire his dedication… but a tent or swag isn’t that expensive lol…
Doctor Who
Not the best voice over at the beginning, sounds like my junior school teacher! Jordan is lucky he has a wife that understands him and he gives her pins of where he is. I can understand how these guys feel Lightning is rare in my part of the UK, but when it happens in summer, its a free show that you have to sit down with a tinnie and watch.

yea her voice sucks , great she is into it and presents weather etc but leave voice overs for the experts to add dramatic effect , not corny aweful aussie school teacher babble
Because of the economic crisis that always comes up the best thing to be on every wise individual’s mind or list is to invest in different streams of income that’s not depending on the government to generate funds.
weather presenters great etc but leave the voice overs for a pro to add dramatic effect ... that sounded like a Kindy teacher with the ole aussie corny spiels at the start ... really it such a waste ..so much work had gone into this ... bloody awesome work otherwise

I have to agree about the voice over, unfortunately, which spoils an otherwise sensational presentation. Buckets of admiration for the Bolt Chasers, especially Kylie Gee.
