Honestly i feel you on the traffic thing but for me once i see that’s the case i switch up my mindset really quickly and just focus on doing some racing instead of setting lap times. That way i prevent myself from getting frustrated at being behind someone because really it’s not bad that there’s some traffic it’s just your mindset going in was on setting lap times. You gotta let that go real quick lol
16:06 BYE PAT!! Such a beautiful McLaren. Can’t wait to see you driving it
Awesome stuff!! You’re really carrying awesome speed through 2-4!

thanks! it was def a little sendy on my best lap but we made it work 😅
Love these videos bro. Thanks.
You should make a video explaining how you got into racing, buying your car, upgrading, etc.

I could be down! the short answer is I wanted to go faster than was safe on back roads so did a little googling and went to my first track day 🤙
Smart. Good to quit when you are tired and done.

nice
The Toyota motors in the Elise kinda suck... It would be decent with a k20 motor but then your another $10k into the car... Also the short wheel base makes them a handful with no notice. The FRS/BRZ is a great machine.
Stock FRS/86 wheels are not wide enough.
Hey brother, love your stuff. Quick question, what oil and weight do you use?

thanks! running motul 300v 5w30 👍
Exiges are righteous machines - naturally I love them and would never fit it though.

Do you like lightning better or Thunderbolt?
@dadhats
14 күн бұрын
I think lightning it's more forgiving and has better flow than thunderbolt imo. also it's much easier for me to compete with high hp cars at lightning for track battles
are you using a gps module, or are you just using the one on your phone?
@dadhats
14 күн бұрын
I have a gps. using a lap timer with just the phone if basically pointless
Hey man, we talked once before but right now I’m really trying to figure out where I want to take the car, I’d love to be able to track the car like you do and everything just mainly wondering what you’re reason is for not adding boost, thanks! Love the content
@dadhats
13 күн бұрын
the main reason is cost but also reliability and if I ever wanted to compete it would cause a lot of issues for classing. you can expect to pay at least 6-8k for a reputable turbo kit + labor + the increased cost of consumables. I def prefer spending my money on seat time but maybe one day I'll change it up

@@dadhats hmm ok yea those are really good points, how are u getting seat time right now? Are you part of club or what does the cost of a track day usually cost? Thanks also for your help!
@dadhats
12 күн бұрын
@@JoshuaKelsey-di5cv not currently part of any club no. my go to has been running with track night and they usually cost around $200 for 3 sessions, most times they hand out $25 coupons tho. I've also ran with masstuning and netc where you get nearly double the track time but prices range from $300-$330

@@dadhats ah ok ok sweet! Well thanks for the info and everything hope to see you out at the track sometime haha!
Out of curiosity, are you running rocker arm retainers?
@dadhats
21 күн бұрын
I don't even know what that is lol
@whiteunclerukus
21 күн бұрын
@@dadhats lol fair enough, they’re tiny clips that keep the rocker arms in our engines from ejecting since they’re only held it place by the valve springs, some frs/brz guys talk about it some don’t
Was this track day with Northeast track club?

First the bumper, now the exhaust. Did one cause the other?

Not being fast is fine in intermediate. But they should still be able to point people by in a timely fashion. Was it straights-only passing?
@dadhats

I agree! just not as common as you might think lol. yes it was straight only passing
Do you have a list of mods ? I just bought an FRS for the track/autocross ?

@@dadhats I probably should have checked there. This will be my first track day in a car at the track in this video actually. When in your journey did you get the oil cooler? I will have the UEL headers and a tune but nothing else major done to the car.
@dadhats
11 күн бұрын
@@timothyryan1972 typically it's recommended right away, I've heard horror stories about ppl blowing their motor on their first track day without the oil cooler. I got away with it for a few track days but don't remember specifically when I got it, you could sort by my oldest videos n check the description. I've been recording ever since my 2nd track day. I also started at Englishtown which doesn't have as many flat out sections, maybe that's why I got away with it for as long as I did

@@dadhats i was worried you may say that ! Are you using the OEM oil?
@dadhats
11 күн бұрын
@@timothyryan1972 I used 0w20 since I started tracking the car, but csg recommends 0w30 or 5w30 which I run now. I follow this since they have a ton of experience with the platform. www.counterspacegarage.com/blog/toyota-86-subaru-brz/recommended-maintenance-guide-for-toyota-86-subaru-brz/
