"CHASE WANTED TO SLOW THE RACE DOWN!" THUNDER VALLEY MX REWIND / Bubba's World w/ James Stewart

Round 3 of the Pro Motocross championship brought us to the mile high city (well a little bit outside of it) in Lakewood, Colorado. Chase Sexton was coming off one of the best rides of all time last weekend and gaining the points lead but just as quickly as the momentum swung in his favor, it was lost this weekend so James breaks down why Chase struggled from his perspective and why the bike didn't work as well here compared to Hangtown. Jett Lawrence was looking to bounce back after a gnarly get off and potential injury and we saw him regain control by taking the OA on the day and talk about what led him to being able to rebound so quickly.
Sit back people, you're in Bubba's World now 😎

I think he did something amazing this weekend. He could have done everything to make that pass, but he knew he had the overall, so he did the harder to do mature thing, and just kept it on 2 wheels instead of trying to risk it all to make that pass. Even hearing him say that he had nothing for Hymas that moto surprised me, and I love that he speaks the truth instead of worrying about his ego. Very unusual for such a young rider who is doing so well. It's a hard mental game to play in the heat of the moment, so I was surprised he did the better thing to win the overall, instead of the pride thing, to win that moto. Very abnormal for such a young rider, but his dad knows the game, and I'm sure they have had that talk a few times now. Was epic to watch tho.

The kids a natural deuch bag and he's single handedly trying to start nonexistent drama between him and Tom !!! Are you blind to how he actually acts and talks even if someone gives him a good race 🤔 That's entitlement 101 without question...

We know he loves to send it and is all about Pride, but those races where he can set the pride aside and focus on “we’ll get him next weekend” when he already has the overall, that is the way to go! My biggest worry with Deegan is he will ride over his head and get injured. And whether people are fans or haters having him out of the lineup would be terrible. Now he’s got a 24 point lead and he can manage. Championship is the goal 👍

James we really do appreciate your banter and great commentary on these events we all like to watch. One thing though, wasn't Chase on the ground two x's last weekend? Or maybe more than that? If so how is that different than last year on the Honda? I get it, he was not on the ground in the 1st race, then at Hangtown was and had the great comeback ride. It's all good, just an observation, hope you see it.

In the 250 class I think Haiden and Tom gassed themselves fighting to the checkered in moto 1. They beat Chance and Levi by 20 seconds in the 1st moto and they were able to conserve energy, which they should, and then take advantage in moto 2. Being able to cruise to the finish in moto 1 gets you that extra 10% stamina for moto 2. I'd do the same thing though, if I knew I couldn't win moto 1 and no one is close behind me I'd just conserve energy. It's crazy the impact on stamina when you compare 95% intensity for shorter periods vs 80% for longer periods. Kinesiology is such an interesting subject to study. So many layers to it. I look at the tracks kind of like F1, where certain tracks serve certain cars and drivers more than others. Track alone can change the running order in F1. I think we have that in Motocross too to an extent. Like next week at High Point Deegan could get 5th, Chance 10th, Levi 1st and that's including no bad luck like 1st turn crashes. Track and prep can really effect who's on one and confident on the day.

Justin Cooper is riding well but he seems to hold up riders with a faster pace an has a big influence on the outcome of the race. In SX it seemed like when riders like Roczen or Webb got a better start than Justin Cooper, they were able to get out front and race with Jett but when they didn't get good starts, there was always a huge gap between the front runners and Justin Cooper, with many riders spending the whole race getting around him. Same thing this weekend, Chase was faster but crashed trying to pass him, only for Jett and Hunter to pass him at the end anyway. Like, i want Justin Cooper to do well but i also want to see the guys that can actually win race each other.

James, do you follow motorcycle racing on asphalt? In World Superbike there's a rider who emerged last years and basically rides a motorbike same way you used to do. Obviously talking about Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. He's the only rider who gives me those vibes. Inventing everytime something unique, going around people on alternative lines, having an absurd control of the bike in braking, braking super late to exit apex super early. He really rides more like a SX rider rather than usual asphalt rider. His style is an ideal mix between 500cc legend Kevin Schwantz and you. Give a look at Toprak, James.

From that day on Gibernau was mentally and physically beaten every time. I think Jett has the same effect on Chase, Chase is on the line knowing Jett has him beat..
