This actually made me a bit confused now lol. I don't have the plat so should the Reverve be a viable option.

They have two Sapphire lounges in New York where I live, and the Sapphire Reserve now has a 75,000 sign up bonus which I recently applied. Plus that simplified 1.5% boost when you book through the travel portal, this card is a keeper for me! 👍🏼

The flight part comparing chase portal vs flights Google should be for the same airlines. Discount airlines are obviously gonna be cheaper.

6:63 I think this might not be important to everyone. I will just take my example, for Los Angeles to New York, the first flight in your screenshot is from Delta, while the cheapest option from google flights you showed was from Frontier. At any time of the day, I would choose the flight from Delta over Frontier, regardless of the cost. Plus, it is also not true that the prices on portal are inflated, because you are comparing prices of Delta flight to Frontier, they are both from totally different class of airlines. The latter is a low-cost carrier while former is not. They have different business models. It is not an Apples to Apples comparison. If you found the same Delta flight on, say Delta's website, and the price there was lower than $128, then you could say the price on the Chase Portal is inflated.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I think lots of people would prefer Delta as well over a budget airline as well. I guess my argument comes from people that don’t mind the budget airlines. $128 was the lowest possible option to find through the portal while $86 was the lowest through google for those people who want to fly with frontier. But yes I totally think delta does not equal frontier!

Man this was one of those cards that was so great but just went downhill overtime. Totally agree, this is a huge devaluation of the card.

When do you see yourself swiping your chase sapphire preferred over your AMEX to accumulate points in the first place?

Honestly never really! I only use preferred for my car rentals because of the primary CDW

Still keeping my reserve card. :)

Chase has the Sapphire Terrace at Austin, which works like the Sapphire Lounge only in a smaller space. I believe it was the first Sapphire Reserve-exclusive lounge, coming out before the Sapphire Lounges. Austin also doesn't have a Centurion Lounge, so a Platinum cardholder would have to use the Delta lounge instead.

Oh nice! Didn’t know about the terrace in Austin. Thanks for that info! I guess that’s my point as well too, if there’s no centurion lounge, there’s always a delta lounge available too with the platinum!

@@Phillpak How good are Delta lounges from your experience? I also think the Priority Pass restaurant removal will sting less if the Sapphire lounges work out well. That doesn't excuse the bad timing on Chase's end though.

@@bluefrost8026 I personally love them! Good tacos haha. I have been to the sapphire lounge in LGA and it was beautiful so I do see your point. But LA just has nothing with Chase. New Yorkers & Bostoners are def the best people to get the cards.

Still worth it for the lounges. Also, you can use another credit card with priority pass for restaurants.

Very informative video. I have to garden until June 2025 due to Chase’s 5/24 rule.😞 Until then, I’ll continue to utilize my AMEX Platinum and Gold.

Thank you so much! Yeah I don’t like the 5/24 rule either but I think plat and gold are sufficient. The preferred just tops it off with the Hyatt transfers! Haha

CSR is def not ruined! Still great earner and best card for travel insurances. Keeping it!

So the comment about using the Amex priority pass to enter the chase lounge is a bit deceptive. It is true; however, you can only access the lounge once for free. After that you do have to pay to enter.

They got rid of a lot of good perks on that card so i fuckin downgraded to the chase sapphire preferred 😑
