Charnwood Forest Railway fly-through, Coalville to Loughborough

Using Google Earth satellite imagery, we trace the path of the former Charnwood Forest Railway, from its junction with the Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway, to the south of Coalville, to its terminus at Loughborough Derby Road Station. Intermediate stations were Coalville East, Whitwick, Thringstone Halt, Grace Dieu Halt, Shepshed, and Snell's Nook Halt. Yellow labels indicate the sites of stations and other features of the former line, and white labels are used for modern street names and landmarks.

Congratulations on your making these videos. I am quite addicted to them, especially those to which I have a connection, however tenuous. Working on an audit in Shepshed sometime in the 80’s I remember walking the track bed over several lunch hours in the ‘towards Coalville’ direction. The shepshed station and the ‘towards Loughborough and the M1’ had been expunged even then.
