Charly Boy Speaks on Nigeria's Security Challenges

In the midst of the latest attack on a secondary school in the north central region of Nigeria, as the defence minister tells citizens to fight back and not to run away if they are attacked by armed men - in effect asking them to turn into unarmed vigilantes at considerable risk to their own lives - we'll speak to the maverick entertainer and veteran activist, Charley Boy, for his reaction and assessment of the current situation in Nigeria...The singer/songwriter, social critic and mass mobiliser, Charley Boy.
#Charlyboy was interviewed by #CharlesAniagolu. Produced by #NissiGabriel.

Long and short of it all is that: we're on our own in this country. We're our own watch men (vigilante and community policing ) we provide our own water and electricity. We organize to control traffic as it was in the morning today around Famous bus stop in Shomolu ... By the way thumbs up to those guys. Charlie Boy my brother, thanks for having you, few days ago I was just wondering that where is this man, Charlie, nothing said from his side about all these things happening in the Nigeria all this while; yes, nobody resigns in Nigeria and I'm saying categorically that, the first and only person to resign is President Buhari, because he's not fit for the job, he has failed....

That's why he fights them with music, publicly, and with the media. If Nigeria had 10 of Charlie Boy like, we will have little or no difficulties in Nigeria. He is a real man, fearless💪

Charlie boy is one man I have exceptional respect for. Fearless, open, honest in his manner of criticism, defiant, consistent with his beliefs, challenging every aspect of governance in Nigeria. This is a man who would have used his father's powerful influence in Nigeria to enrich himself in any government or private sector. Instead, he opted to fight the inhumanity, injustice, poverty, corruption, dehumanization, marginalization in Nigeria, tribe regardless. Charle boy is a man. Chief Obafemi Awolowo was right when he said, Nigeria is a mere geographical creation. To be honest, if we comprehensively go through our history from independence to date, considering the unspeakable horrible situations we have experienced, Nigeria has no logical reason, and no presentable purpose to exist anymore. The British only brought us together by map for their own advantage with key force on our mineral resources, oil and gas in particular. Nothing else matters to them. Nigeria had never worked for Nigerians, only for the West. Best we call it a wrap, and go our separate ways in place of fighting, and killing ourselves. Self deceit is a disease no sensible individual wants to contract.

In Some countries, comments by a serving federal minister like this would have meant he Must Resign, as he he is acknowledging that the Current dispensation cannot protect the lives and property of those who elected them to protect their interest. He seems to be advocating anarchy, on live TV, that the citizens should take the law into their hands, on account of the leadership not having the required capacity, to provide basic security, a basic duty of care to the electorate, as is taken for granted in normal societies the world over. With this race to the bottom speech’s, we just might be embracing a society where Gangsters and Warlords rule the roost, with politicians, as well as government officials, working for them. As Personalities seem to be more important than institutions, we will sustain a race to the bottom, with people like that federal minister’s eloquent speech.

Talk of protecting ourselves, why not? We have been self governed since independence. We build our on roads that leads to our compounds, to be connected to the national electricity grid, we must buy and erect the electric pools, wires and meters from a distance to our compounds yet no working national electric power available even as we continue paying for electric bills. We supply our own light by buying electric generators. We build our own boreholes to have running water for our households. We should know by now to be our own security. Nigerians our mumu never do?

The police they have is Abuja police, the military they have is Abuja military, the money and everything belongs to Abuja and everything is determined and detected by fulanis. The average man has no access to security. Even in Rwanda or Ghana, people has direct access to public public numbers and get help in minutes. Nigeria is that the Abuja government determine who has right to life and who will die. Terrorism or whatever they call it in Nigeria is a grand assembly of jihadists to overthrow everyone who is not Islamic. A terrorist cannot be trusted and can strike any time he feels bad and we Biafra people cannot be part of that. They have done international terror before, that is who they are, they don't stop. The problem we have today in igbo land is created by government which is only operated from Abuja. The police and military has become threats to the lives of the people. Give us a referendum and that's it.

How to tackle terrorism and insecurity: Nigeria security infrastructure from the Military, Police and other security apparatus should be obliged to give account of ammunition guns and weapons in their custody and also make it open on the amount of their ammunition in stock and also let the senate pass a bill that would force them to be open to the public on channels where hoodlums and territorists get their weapons from. All borders must be shut down for security purposes Eg: Redeemers respects Baba Adeboye more than God or Jesus Christ.

@@jamessunday8915 he didn't speak the truth cause there's disaster that will come with giving everyone guns cause everyone aint sane..... its the easy way out to say defend urselves cause now they can wash their hands and say its not on them to help......theyre there in those positions for a reason, job is literally to provide safety and they're getting paid, ur solution shouldn't be do it urself, meaning u pay me to do it and my solution is u do it..... the cultists alone and fights in lagos....that people survive, no one will if everyone has guns or mass shootings, any little argument will lead to a shooting, in china they have a billion plus people, no guns and no terrorists, everyone's safe.... so its not impossible, we just have idiots in government is all, adding guns to the equation will just increase the violence we see.. by a lot
