I remember watching this test in my best friend's front room, we were both stunned by the incredible connection between Charlotte and Valegro, they make olympic dressage look as easy as a morning warm-up. I've always been a showjumper at heart, but this really opened my eyes to the artistry and skill of dressage. I now train my own horses thoroughly in dressage techniques, flexion, and collection before taking to the jumping ring. The difference it makes is phenomenal. There really is so much that can be learned by riders in any discipline from riding flatwork. Thank you Charlotte and Valegro for sharing your talent with the world, inspiring us all, and bringing home a slew of titles for Great Britain! We love you!

what a team - the thought of the years of training, the cost not just in money but time, work, etc., sure deserved teh gold medal

I'm watching this now in 2021 and burst out crying at how beautifully done it was, the music for it was perfect, the setting, the test, everything about it was a wonderful privilege to watch

You're not the only ones, i always thought dressage was a sport for the upper classes and snobs of the country but watching Charlotte and Valegro at the Olympics proved me wrong. I'm glad it did

Still watching this every now and then because it is all kinds of excellent. Charlotte's seat is just phenomenal and I love how effective and deliberate her aids are. Then there's Valegro who's just an absolute star, and the exceptional partnership between these two... Such an inspiration, and such a well-deserved gold medal too!

The extended trot is the best I've ever seen ! It's like his hooves dont touch the floor 😍

Dressage is so beautiful to watch, it's so underrated

I know nothing about the equestrian world, but he makes me cry every time I see him perform or compete. Huge amount of work has gone into this and he’s such a special horse in the first place.....that’s obvious.

This has to be the single most British thing I have ever seen in my life and I live here.

I know nothing about this but watching it made me so happy 🤗

There's something so extraordinary about this partnership. Valegro seems to know all the steps and is taking Charlotte along for the ride. They move as one complete unit.

I was there at the Hartpury Festival of Dressage at their last competition before the Olympics and first time competing with this test, the first time they broke the record... The stunned silence at the end, its like the entire arena was electrified and I still get goose bumps every time I watch this test. True icons, it'll go down in history.

seems to be a specialty of Carl's and Charlotte's yard :-) I think Uthopia's extended trots were so amazing as well, maybe his best movement

And yet the horses I ride refuse to canter without spooking or tripping 😂😂😂

His extended trot looks like he’s FLOATING! It’s insane

that horse is truly dancing and it is beautiful

I could sit and watch this for hours. I absolutely love it.

After watching this stunning horse and his intelligent athletic rider.... rather ruins it for watching other team combinations. He will be sorely missed. This is the way Dressage IS done.

When I was 7 I thought doing half pass was amazing but watching this live honestly was the best thing EVER her skills and valegros are amazing getting to meet her was an honor too.

Probably one of the most beautiful, exceptional horses to ever exist. He and Ms. Dujardin will go down in history.

Wow, Valegro and Charlotte really got me into Dressage. I Used to get kind of bored since I liked the idea so I would watch it but I wouldn't be entertained. But for some reason ever since I watched Charlotte and Valegro I have been addicted

The ultra talented horses which excel at the major skills of dressage actually love learning and schooling on new things. Not every horse will excel at schooling. I was blessed that my saddlebreds loved to school and never stopped learning new skills. Both excelled at dressage skills. Many could care less, but those that do love it are a blast to ride. The rider also has to love learning and have the patience to break a task down and work in a progression. The end justifies the work. I have not seen abuse to dressage skills. Abuse go look at the feet of tennessee walkers.

Sally Greimes I guess you’ve never seen an overbent dressage horse. There’s abuse in every equestrian discipline, not just TWH and dressage.

All you need is a dressage whip mints and one of those dog training devices that makes clicking noises

You can't help but admire the talent, and not to mention all the hard work that goes into this

All the blood sweat and tears that goes into a performance of this calibre. Absolutely incredible and awesome. Well done to all the team behind the scenes horse and rider.

wow, I was just looking at some horse riding dressage motivation because I want to start competing again so I searched for: equestrian dressage competition motivation, and this was the first thing to come up, truly an inspiration and I am going to fight so hard to hopefully one day be able to follow in their footprints.

I just finished reading Carl Hester's YA book series about "Blueberry", then came here straight away. I am crying with the beauty of this horse and his partnership with Charlotte. Bravo!

I was very lucky to be there to watch this event and to this day nothing will beat that feeling when Charlotte and Valegro performed this.

That feeling of being one with a horse is amazing....... horses are 99% spirit and one percent flesh and bone; especially when it is windy, thank you Charlotte and Valegro and my res horse Loverboy.

I always marvel how the rider is always just sitting seeming to do nothing. So subtle and delicate. ❤ I wish we had these shows close by. 😢

All my co-workers talking about the Olympic dressage as if it's a joke... Me: 🤬🤦‍♀️ To be learn dressage let alone fine-tune and finesse it to this standard is a phenomenal skill which takes years of consistent practise and determination. I know dressage is a personal taste (a kind of love-it-or-hate-it scenario) but sometimes I wish the people who see no point in it would just keep quiet, because in opening their mouths it's like they're just totally undermining the time and effort these equestrians put in daily without fail to get to where they are now. Anyway this was a stunning performance and the horse is just beautiful... definitely a born performer! 😂🌠

I know nothing of dressage but I think I’m allowed to comment that I choked up at the beauty and artistry of this horse and his human. Yep, this ole’ girl from a small town in Texas was only a barrel racer on Sunday afternoons.

I will say get Charlotte and Valegro working at their best,Charlotte's book is well named, "The Girl On The Dancing Horse"

I'll never forget the first time I saw Charlotte Dujardin. She was competing in the 2012 Olympics. I was pretty young at the time and didn't know who she was, but as I watched her, there was something special about her and her horse. They had a bond like no other. Their bond is like magic. When the Breyer, Valegro, released I had no idea that it was her horse. I haven't purchased Valegro yet and haven't gotten a close look at him, so I didn't know his story. Then a while later, I found her book and knew it was her. I was so happy when I finally remembered her name. I was very excited when I found out her horse was Valegro. She's a very talented rider and honestly, a huge inspiration. She's a rider that will never be forgotten. Her bond with her horse is incredible!

I watch this at least once a week they are just made in heaven

That was an excellent display of training for both horse and rider. This took years to master the ability to make it look so effortless for both. Great job!

I just got into watching dressage, and I'm stoked, my friends say it's boring but since I was little I always thought horses where such magnificent creatures and really admired people who genuinely cared for them. I'm 20 now and I haven't ride a horse in years.

I wish I could. The unpredictable nature of the epilepsy made learning to ride a horse too dangerous, it was not the horse it was a case of if I had a seizure whilst in the saddle I would have been along off the ground

God made Charlotte & the horse.

I was watching the dressage at last year's London Horse Show, I thought I had been watching it for about 45 minutes it was actually over 2 hours. Done well dressage can be mesmerising. It was the Brit clean sweep with Charlotte, Lottie Fry and Becky Moody. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same top 3 and order in Paris at the Olympics

This video is just so mesmerising I could watch it all day the way they just glide together is magical best horse and rider duo 🙌

Hans Peter Minderhoud did almost this exact routine on Equis Nadine in 2009. Almost the exact music, moves, etc. Beautifully done by both horses and their riders

I have enjoyed show jumping and eventing for a long time but never really took much notice of dressage. I thought, at the time it's only a horse that can walk fancy and was a sport for snobs, then along came Charlotte and Valegro. I purely by chance saw the London Olympics test, this one, live, loved it and did a bit of research and discovered just how much skill and trying it takes for both horse and rider. After learning more about it if I can I will watch any dressage event that I can.

The rider is perfect!!!! The horse is so nice and great!!!!!
