One of the best and greatest Drummers. He was a very clever Graphic Artist as well. Charlie was a man of dignity and integrity. Faithful to his wife of 57 years, he never strayed. @@metallion0738 I'm afraid I have to differ. To me, Mick is the brain of the band, the face and the p*nis. Keith is the soul, the integrity. But the beating heart of the band was Charlie.

Not sure what you mean. It was subtly ambiguous. He was proud of the fact that Mick would want to claim him as his drummer; and yet he felt belittled at the same time. He wanted to remind Mick they were a band.

Definition of class and what it means to be humble and awesome all at the same time. One of my favorite drummers of all time but it had nothing to do with being a drummer. He was just an awesome human that we got to experience in our life time. And we learned from his example…

insane all of these deaths. Neil Peart, Eddie Van Halen, now this... Unreal, everybody getting older and this will continue over time... I saw the stones in 1981,, then again several times, the last in 1999 during their no security tour in Philadelphia. We had floor seats. I will never forget when about half way through the show the lights went out, they walked down the middle of the floor, then all of a sudden a small stage popped up and the guys took their positions. I was about 3 rows from them, so close it was crazy. They played like 4-5 songs from that little stage. Charlie was just drumming along, no nonsense, never missed a beat. Amazing guy.. RIP...

Drumming until almost 80. He was a Rock. Such a shock being no mention of any heart problems. Mick has a heart issue and recovered quickly from his surgery. Damn cigarettes. Yet he had quit for a bit over 3 decades. Got through his cancer. Just thought nothing much of his resting up. Very sad. So looking forward in seeing Charlie jam.

You forgot an original remaining stone ; Bill Wyman. Even though he is no longer an active band member, he is still with us ,and a class act as well. I think Wyman, and Watts were the solid members that kept the Stones on an even keel throughout the life of the band.
