Man, had to call me out on the Civic. 🤣🤣🤣 I figured this was beyond my cars capabilities anyhow, but being specifically called out made me laugh. Lifting a Civic only does so much!

I have an 02 Mazda tribute 4x4 (ford escape) with lockers. It has 8.4” of ground clearance (0.2” more than an 02 wrangler) do u think that is enough?

I have a JKU with a 2" lift. No lockers. Never been off roading before. I don't even know about the sway bar disconnects, etc. You think I could still do this?

Only disconnect away bars if you're going to be off-camber (side to side tilt). This is basically a run of the mill driveway in North Georgia. It's a great trail to learn on, but not difficult at all.

I’ve wanted to head up there and camp. I’m 4-5 hours away. Wondering what time of year is good to go where I have a good chance of getting a camping spot.

There was several camping spots along the trail, but I know for sure one of them is blocked off now. Apparently people were leaving trash everywhere. There are now signs up that say "no off-roading" which just means don't go off the trail. It's getting colder outside so you'll probably find a camp spot no problem. The good news is, if you don't find something along Charlie's Creek, there are plenty of other spots to camp near by. Many of them labeled on Google Maps.

@@goatsinapond nice! Thanks for the info. Googled it again and I’m actually 5-6 hours away. To be perfectly honest, we’ve never camped before and “over landing” looks like a lot of fun. Driving through the woods and camping next to a river sounds pretty cool. Wish people would just clean up after themselves. Ruins it for everyone else. I have a ford expedition that’s got 4 high and 4 low with Some good A/T tires. We should be fine if the river crossings aren’t too deep.

I stumbled upon this one trying to find campsites in North Georgia. I've also used US Forestry Service to find trails. www.fs.usda.gov/recreation/programs/ohv/ohv_maps.shtml. Click Virginia and then click Interactive Map. Dig around and see what you can find!

Yea, as of a couple months ago, the entire trail was graded and is much easier to drive now. Even before the grading you would be fine on a dry day.
