@Cerberus, Charlie wasn't always this way; he had an integrated band in the 70s, sang about not wanting to get beat up for having long hair and a peace sign on his car and taking another toke, and once berated an audience for yelling racial slurs at a black comedian. By 1988, however, a new version of Uneasy Rider had him and his good ole boys beating up gays in a bar. He was also a cheerleader for invading Iraq.

I grew up going to Charlie Daniels day in the 80's. He even did a free concert at my junior high school. I got to get out of class and help clean up after the show and I sat and talked to him once for about 15 min. He was very cool and very nice. I think i was 14. At Charlie Daniels day they would bring the Skoal race car and show it off and they gave away free cans of Skoal and the new Skoal Bandit in a pouch. All of us was walking around with our mouths packed full of dip. Some of the best times of my life. Charlie was and is an American treasure. Sad to hear of his passing.

It was CDB, Marshall Tucker B, 38 Special, Marty Stewart, Travis Tritt, and Hank jr... Show was great till Jr came out drunk as a skunk. Met Harry Gant there too! Talked to Harry for a half hour. Man, Charlie can sing. I am so thankful that I grew up when I did. Nobody will ever experience the music that we listened to in the 70's and 80's again. I've seen Charlie in concert so many times and have never been disappointed. Charlie and Marshall Tucker played an outdoor concert at Augusta Expoland in Fishersville Va. in the 80's. The neighbors from a distance complained about the noise and they have never had an outdoor concert since.

First time I saw Charlie play was in the 80s in Murfreesboro TN. He opened for Alabama. It was a snowy evening and he drove down from his home in Mt. Juliet to play. The show was a little late getting started and Charlie apologized and said he stopped to help a few people who had slid of the road into a ditch. That's just the kind of man he was. The show can wait when people need a hand.

I guess Letterman didn't just meet the singer, he and the audience just met their 1st Cowboy 🤠❤️😘 and he hypnotized everyone. I saw Charlie 6 times. One time at an old run down bar everybody dancing on the floor. I was right up front when the very 1st time I watched him play "Devil went down to Georgia". He broke every bow on that fiddle. His sweat hit me may as well been Holy Water to a woman like me. 🤠🐎❤️ He lived a great life. He gainfully employed 40 people for 40 years that doesn't make me miss him every single day he went home. The pleasure is all mine. My meaning behind it does rest on your thoughts of people who would give anything to see this, and parts of my life I myself I could tell to an unbelievable listeners ear. My life could be made into a Taylor Sheridan movie. Taylor would want to meet me. I would put in that movie my darkest moment, me sitting on a front porch rocker looking at green rolling hills and beauty with the look of disbelief on my face while this song played. The song that could've never be thought of again until you. Again, Thank You

Letterman's first dip. Priceless HaHaHa. I never met anyone more cool than Charlie. When my friends and I were in high school we signed up to do wild steer racing at The Charlie Daniels Twin Pines Ranch Ropeoff in Murfreesboro TN. When we went up to get our numbers Charlie asked us where our parental consent forms were. We told him we had not been informed we needed them. He handed us forms and one of our crew started to say our parents weren't there. Charlie cut him off mid sentence. He said " I just need a signature on the form. I am not going to follow you to the parking lot to see who signs it. " I thought that was the coolest. Twin Pines Ranch wasn't far from the house. He had a Paint stallion that was black and white spotted. I had a mare that looked just like him. I took her by there and he asked me to price her. I told him that she was a member of the family and had no price. He offered free stud service and we tried every year but never had a foal. I would have given it to him if we had. He was so approachable and down to earth. He sold the ranch a few years before his demise and we lost touch. Rock Hard Charlie. Rest in peace.

I grew up in Mt. Juliet Tn. When I was in Junior High in the early 80s CDB would play a free concert a few weeks before school year ended in gym at 10a in the morning. Just us kids and school staff. I will never forget how kind he was to us pimple faced kids. A hometown hero. RIP sir.

I saw CDB live several times and in 1987, I worked off duty at the Celebrity Theatre at one of his shows. I met Taz before he went on and Carlie after the show because the manager found out I was a fan. I still have the picture he signed for me. What a gentleman and patriot. We aren’t as good as when he was here.
