Charlie, Charlie, Charlie!
These are the various iterations of the iconic Charlie perfume commercials that made Shelley Hack famous. Or was it the other way around? Afterall, the supermodel (even before that term was coined) definitely brought a lot of class, sass and pizzazz to these classic tv commercials. Shelley, embodying the timeless image of the smart, confident, and beautiful career woman, made Charlie perfume and its commercials well-known around the world. Great job, Shelley Hack!

Shelley Hack WOW , she looked amazing 😊😊😊😊
The voice of the late Bobby Short in the opening commercial just gets me! He could not have sang that any better. I vividly remember watching this commercial as a young girl at the age of 12. I loved it then and love it even more now. Beautiful memories.

I agree completely, we must be about the same age. I had a bottle as well given as a Christmas gift. I now have an adorable mini Pincher mix puppy and for some reson this song pops in my mind, it reminds me of my Ivy girl. It's going to her song.
Everything about that first commercial was perfect. Driving up in the classic car, looking at herself in the rearview mirror, tossing her hat to the doorman, twirling with a guy at the cool club, bouncing into the booth, the way she flicks her hair, Booby Short. I bet it sold a lot of cologne.

I love Shelley Hack and I loved these commercials. I have a magazine ad of Charlie perfrume with Shelley and Santa Claus. It's in a beautiful frame and I pull it out and hang it up every year at Christmas time. I've done this since the 70's. Love it! Love Shelley!

Whenever I saw these commercials I always imagined the "Charlie's Angels" theme was playing instead of the jazz tunes (with all due respect to Bobby Short and Mel Torme, of course )
I'm still singing the Charlie Jazz Pitch with mental images of gorgeous Shelley Hack almost to 51-years later :-)

I still wear this perfume today.
In the '70's she was one of the most dynamic..... elegant & classy young ladies ever seen on tv....her co-stars with Charlie's Angels had much more power at the time she became the newest cast member and they were so jealous of her...getting her pink slipped very early in the that tv series....yet she was strong and rebounded her career and life. Simply....still one of the best of all time! She also single handedly made $$ Millions for Revlon as the "Charlie Girl" in tv commercials back then.

Am i mistaken or was it Cheryl Ladd that had a problem with Shelley Hack? Or, Kate Jackson couldn't hack Cheryl?...
@curtismichael4703

I thought they let her go because the ratings slipped?
@originalangelsforever6535

Ladd couldn't stand Hack. Her alliances Lakso and Miller didn't like her either. So all it took was some backstabbing. Jackson had been all too aware of those tactics while she was on the show. Jackson had principles and didn't take shit from anyone. She was right but they gave her a reputation. Backstabbing at work! The ratings did in fact slip because Kate Jackson was no longer on the show. That was the problem. She was irreplaceable. And Spelling blames Shelley Hack for everything? More backstabbing. Kate and Shelley should write a tell all.
great voice ,beautiful jingle , bobby short rember hearing this advert in the seventies as a kid in london england great era
iconic to say the least,she boosted sales to surpass a billion dollars in sales in mere weeks making production a twenty four seven thing at revlon to fill all the orders,here is the most amazing thing that got Aaron Spelling, notice this fabulous woman from the time she applies two squirts on her neck , parks her vintage rolls, strides and strolls on in by herself no man needed, she obviously has been there and she knows everybody and everybody knows her, she commands total attention in a non sexist and non threatning way, sits down with the man she is meeting flips her head back to move her hair off her pretty face, now here is the mind blower folks SHE ACCOMPLISHED TOTAL ATTENTION WITHOUT SAYING A SINGLE WORD, that did did it AAron Spelling had to have this beauty as his fifth angel and he had visions of the charlie girl becomes charlies angel,a perfect character for the perfect actress
Yeah, Bobby Short was the reason for me remembering this commercial. I even remember the first time I saw it. I believe I was in third grade. One morning before school just after watching Sally Star.

Thanks for putting this together!
That’s what I named my child. Charlie.

One of the most beautiful women alive today.
wow what a beauty she is
I think I like Bobby Short’s version just a bit better because Mel Torme’s version is like: ‘Here comes Charlie, but I’m a star too...’ where Bobby’s is like: ‘Look...It’s Charlie, and She’s A STAR!’ 🤷🏻♂️

The first ad is my favorite and the one I remember best! Great music!
'Chaz'... HAHAHAHAHAH!!!

I can remember I watch tv for her prefum like that in abt 1977 really and Charlue Anglea was good actors and she smile like that

These are great, wow! I'd never seen the cowboy one! I didn't live in USA at the time, so hadn't seen any of them when they aired. Only saw 2 on YT previously. Thanks for uploading them. (5 years ago, I almost bought the same jacket she's wearing in the Notre Dame commercial!) XD
"Charlie"...the perfume that harpoons guys in the heart like MK's Scorpion. " Get over here!"
1:41 she sprayed that charlie right in her mouth but kept the smile goin' 😂
The greatest fragrance ever made. Only Chanel No.5 comes close.

Indeed! CA wasted her potentials. Shelley was the best replacement they could have for Kate: pretty, fashionable, recognizable face, smart and funny. All they have to do was to back her up with sufficiently interesting storylines but the show fuc**d up big time on this. All those talk that she "cannot act" (because she can! see 2nd half of Season 4 when new scripts were written) were a smoke screen for the fact that Lakso's ideas for the show have run dry. It wasn't even a show that needed "serious acting" so that was really a stupid argument to throw against Shelley
Kinda young kinda now-if you're in 1977 that is.
The moment you see Shelley's face on this commercial, did anyone imagine the "Charlie's Angels" theme was playing instead of the jazz tunes (with all due respect to Mel Torme, of course ) 😉

Es el comercial que jamás podría ser olvidado una joya de los inolvidables años 70.

Shelly Hack was a very underrated Angel (speaking of Charlie). Appeared in Season 5 and then was dropped, much to the show's detriment.
@filomango69
Жыл бұрын
Agree totally. The lazy and stupid head writer Ed Lakso was burning off prewritten scripts in the 1st half of season 4 , while feeding tabloids the lie that Shelley couldn't act so he wrote only token lines for her. With new writers and new scripts in the 2nd half of the season, the parts became equal for the 3 angels, and Shelley proved she was actually good and likeable. Dropping her from season 5 spelled instant death for the show. Viewers were already warming up to Shelley and the bikini-clad replacement was an unlikely character for a detective played by an overhyped wooden starlet
All. Elegance n psychic. Angel
this is so straightforward i feel like memes have infected commercials so much lol
Bobby Short's version to me is the best! RIP Bobby Short.
