Modern time is evergreen wonderful creation of Charlie Chaplin which we now feel and exhibit negative impact in our everyday life due to total automation.
Isn't it just so wonderful that someone who was born almost 150 years ago and already died 44 years ago, still makes us laugh and happy. If he would know🙃

Charlie Chaplin made the whole world laugh with this particular scene regardless of what langauge you speak.
The arm that swings around and wipes his mouth is like a continuous punch-line! At the end when he's screaming in panic as it frantically smacks him in the face, comedic gold! Rotf!

Our grade 12 film class watched a bunch of Chaplins comedies. People were happy to see them because he's so historic, but no one really laughed. This one however, so different from his earlier works, it had people laughing loudly.

@@karlmall Hahaha, what you said reminds me of that WoW episode of South Park where Cartmans mom is bringing him food and a bedpan to crap in 😂
This was filmed in 1936, although Chaplin said he had the feeding machine idea floating around for years beforehand. For a “silent” film there is an overlooked point which is subconsciously brilliant. The use of sound. We hear the machine, its internal workings, even the subtle splash if soup in the bowl, but never any of the dialogue, some of which is clearly shouting. It never feels odd. The boss’ voice is only heard over the loudspeakers, never outside of his office. I think Chaplin was definitely gearing up for sound by planting all of these little seeds throughout the picture, culminating with his ingenious nonsense song near the end. Also, the editing is flawless throughout, a trait for which Chaplin seldom gets praise.

And later in the movie we hear Charlie's voice for the first time--singing absolute gibberish. It feels like a principle cartoons later carried over of being very light on dialogue to focus on the physical comedy. Charlie's influence on film cannot be overstated.

Charlie Chaplin is a phenomenal comedian .. he's well known to people all over the world .. I was born in the middle east and when I was a kid during the seventh decade of the 20th century we used to watch his movies on TV frequently and he was considered a legend by the older generations .. it would be a surprise if you meet someone who doesn't know who's Charlie Chaplin ..
I have to be honest, I never truly paid attention to him until this video. I am officially a fan now. This was brilliant and I can see how some of the great physical comedians of the last half century would have been influenced by him.

His facial expressions, they guy is just a madman born waaaay ahead of his times. He acts like a modern man from our time. But dresses like a hipster because it's his actual clothing.
When you think about it. This is disturbing. The company is trying to find ways to feed their workers as quick as they can to make them work longer and have them test a beta that is dangerous. And when Chaplin’s character lost it and started playing with the buttons and levers, the workers had to speed up and try to catch up with it before getting their coworker from getting hurt...... geez
