Charleston is a special place. I know, because I return each year to enjoy yet another remarkable experience.
Charleston’s beauty and history are nothing short of majestic.
Its people, the friendliest you’ll find anywhere, contain a full dose of Southern hospitality.
And while its pace is comfortable, occasionally things can get a little hectic.
But that’s not a reason to leave Charleston, just a time to retreat to your water paradise aboard Charleston’s own Palmetto Breeze.
You’ll be quickly struck by the difference between the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston and the quiet solitude of the water as it nourishes your soul.
Here’s a few clips from my most recent Charleston voyage aboard the Palmetto Breeze.
We boarded the Breeze at Mt. Pleasant on Shem Creek beside Red’s Ice House. Boarding was easy and in just a few minutes everyone was set to go.
Captain John skillfully navigated away from the dock and set sail up Shem creek toward the open waters of Charleston Harbor.
One last wave to the less fortunate on shore and we were on our way.
Complimentary bottled water and soft drinks were provided. There was also a cash bar available for purchase of beer, wine and margaritas. Needless to say, the bar was a popular place throughout the sail.
The Palmetto Breeze is Charleston’s ultimate sailing catamaran and was built for both comfort and speed. It’s spacious deck has room for up to 100 passengers plus the crew.
A Palmetto Breeze cruise is a great celebratory event for birthdays, weddings, corporate outings, school eco tours, you name it. And of course it’s perfect as well for couples and singles.
For bonding time or just plain relaxing, life on the water gives you a feeling like no other.
The Palmetto Breeze features a spacious wooden deck, covered seating by the “barefoot” bar, 2 bathrooms below and speakers which pipe festive music throughout for all to enjoy.
It was interesting to watch Captain John doing, well, Captain stuff. You go Captain John!
The Palmetto Breeze is owned and operated by Captain John and his wife Carole.
John has captained boats from the Florida Keys to Australia and many points in between . Although John and Carole are active in the sailing industry internationally, they happily call Charleston home.
In addition to just getting away from it all, depending on the particular cruise and time of day, one might see a beautiful sunset illuminating the Charleston skyline, dolphins as they playfully put on a show, as well as various well known Charleston landmarks in a different and exciting way.
And then, way too soon, our two hours of sailing serenity had flown by and Captain John made his way back up Shem creek to dock.
The Creek is especially charming as its lights induce an alluring glow.
Even as we disembarked, many of us were already looking forward to our next special time when again our sails would be full, and our spirits uplifted.
Catch the breeze, the Palmetto Breeze and turn your next Charleston visit into a memory for a lifetime.
