Friday evening drive around the southern coastal and historic city of Charleston South Carolina USA. Charleston is a popular tourist destination, with a considerable number of hotels, inns, and bed and breakfasts, numerous restaurants featuring Lowcountry cuisine and shops. In 2016, Charleston was ranked the "World's Best City" by Travel + Leisure.
Charleston is the largest city in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The city is the county seat of Charleston County, and the principal city in the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city lies just south of the geographical midpoint of South Carolina's coastline and is located on Charleston Harbor, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean formed by the confluence of the Ashley, Cooper, and Wando rivers. Charleston is the third-largest in the state and the 74th-largest metropolitan statistical area in the United States.
Commercial shipping is important to the economy. The city has two shipping terminals, owned and operated by the South Carolina Ports Authority, which are part of the fourth-largest container seaport on the East Coast and the thirteenth-largest container seaport in North America.
The port is also used to transfer cars and car parts for Charleston's auto manufacturing business, such as Mercedes and Volvo.

LeoNation 89 don’t listen to him, nothing is wrong with Columbia and myrtle, every city has bad parts but the vista and down town areas of Columbia are fine. On the other hand I’ve always found Greenville and surrounding areas super trashy with a lot of trailer parks so maybe we see things different. Charleston is by far the most appealing though!!
Charleston is the best I went there four years ago when I was 8 and I remember visiting that wall thing at 20:51, the military ship thing, Fort Sumter, a carriage ride, the market and crossing the bridge! I love Charleston!

They’re actually palmetto trees. They’re all up the coast of the states of South Carolina, Georgia, Northern Florida, Southeastern North Carolina, and to a lesser extent further inland in these states also.

Drive through the city during dawn, watching the sunset on highway lane is fascinating.

This is Charleston, one of the cleanest cities in the world and constantly rated top 3 for most Beautiful in the US and even the world. It definitely doesn’t reflect all of SC lol, I live here and definitely couldn’t live anywhere else in this state other than Beaufort.

I've never been there but Charleston looks like so so much to a provincial french city over Bordeaux and under Brittany. Cities like La Rochelle, Saintes and many others.... Very quiet. Very cosy. A bit "bourgeois"....

@@dan-patrickobrien3580 ehh you don't really see it or feel it much, especially as a tourist, but it's there if you seek it out. As a south carolina native I've never heard those be mentioned but in state history books in school we did learn about the gullah, who are descendents of west african slaves and have their own culture and dialect and you do see them around and knowledge about their culture and language is a lot more accessible. Definitely cool to look into.
I was born in Rock Hill, SC and raised in NY, I'm headed back to where I was born because I love small cities like this the older I get. My plane is just to relax and be comfortable for the rest of my life.

I've been to Charleston a few times but never realized it was THIS big. My family on my father's side lives about 45 minutes away from Charleston but never goes there due to it being so busy. They live in the deep DEEP country where there is only 1 grocery store. lol

Very beautiful and unique city, looks much more European than American. It reminds me of some Italian resort towns like Forte Dei Marmi and Rimini.

@@Mongoose-ct6us well maybe not south American but definitely Caribbean. many of it's influence, culture and founders were from Barbados and the Bahamas. But also a big French population too. Alot of street names, last names of people and architecture is French as well as a bit of French culture. I'd say the dominant culture is Caribbean and West African. It's got the largest amount of African culture in North America. Geechie Gullah, Yoruba, and Igbo.

@@Mongoose-ct6usso true, South America was colonized by the French but didn't know the Germans too. Interesting. South Carolina and Georgia actually have a strong German and Bavarian culture as well yet you can only really see it in the middle and upper parts of both states..
