One day in class I told Charles I was going that evening to see Chita Rivera's show at The Geffen Playhouse (a friend of mine, a former colleague from the Broadway cast of "Cats" was one of her back-up boys). Charles got out a piece of paper and wrote a short note and told me to give it to Chita when I went backstage after the show. He said not to say who it was from. "She'll know". All the note said was something like:
"I adore you". And he signed it "-Savoo Day".
