Maybe the greatest recording of an Evans song that doesn't have Evans playing on it. So beautiful.

I loved this group, and I wish they would have recorded more. Palle Danielsson's swing and tone on this track are as good as it gets with jazz bass.

I study under Professor as I did with many sax players including my brother in -law Stanley Turrentine. But there is something so different the Professor brings in tone and technique.

Yes!! My Big Brother Woody " Sonship" Theus will live forever!! He was so gifted by God of being one of the Baddest Drummers and Percussionist to hit planet earth!! I remember as a little girl knowing he played with the Great Charles Lloyd. I was so honored, blessed and proud to be Sonship's Baby Sister!!💕💯

Yes, Palle Danielsson on this. And Charles Lloyd taking the Evans tune to planet Forest Flower. With Michel Petucciani, no less. Didn't know Son Ship Theus, but do now.

Was this written as a Waltz by Evans?

Yes. Not sure whether he ever played it in 4, but he did play Waltz for Debby in 4. So, there's that...

Not sure Trane was around when Bill Evans wrote Very Early. Charles Lloyd has that Coltrane reach, doesn't he.
