Wow, this enrages me. Not only the monster himself who killed all those people-but whoever was responsible, at the various hospitals, for not turning him in. All those people have blood on their hands as well. The mind set of trying to not be sued, yet you're letting a killer run amok. Ironically, after the truth comes out, I imagine all the lawsuits they were trying to avoid, hit them (as they should) big time. Even more so, since they suspected he was behind some of the patient's deaths and they did nothing.

At one hospital, I think it was in the early 1900's, there were supposedly several working together at one hospital. I don't have a lot of details because the only reference for this I ever found on this group was an encyclopedia of serial killers that I found while in college and do not have on hand.

The first thing the doctor said to me was he hadn't had a patient end up in an ng tube since he was doing his residency 20 years previously. Was that supposed to be comforting? He then swapped me from my narcotic pain meds to an nsaid without telling me. I started freaking out because my pain level started increasing so quickly that I thought something else was going wrong and was scared. That's when he told my family i was displaying drug seeking behavior by becoming so upset over the med switch. @@solitaireburton3740 I get people rag on the US system often and claim they don’t understand why we have to pay out the ass for healthcare, especially if they don’t live here, but there is a reason that is a bit more complicated than “just let it all be free!” A TLDR is below, but if you genuinely want to know: - The US has the highest number of MRI machines above every other western country, guaranteeing one at every hospital (Japan is the only other country with a higher number of them). - Ventilators are in abundance here. Every hospital has them. Despite the narratives thrown around during COVID - ventilators were covered and the US even sent them to other countries that needed them. - The US also has more ICU beds per person than any country in the world. It’s why the majority of the US hospitals did NOT become overwhelmed during the pandemic (NYC ≠ all of US cities). - Similar for CT scanners per hospital in the US. South Korea is the only other country to have a lot, with the US in second, Italy in third. - Despite the US having lower hospital beds per 1,000 people compared to countries like Japan, Germany, or Austria, the medical equipment still ranks US the highest among other western countries for accessibility. Something many foreigners will travel to America for to have access to in terms of their health. For a country that is said to have the worst, many seek out the centers in the US over it. - The US also has a higher number than any other country of practicing physicians that are specialists or generalists, while ranking number 3 with the amount of nurses on staff worldwide that has continued to grow more than any other country (there hasn’t been a recent study done yet for post-COVID, but given the number prior, I doubt it changing that much). - The US ranks second in the world with hospital employment, healthcare staff, and administrative/other staff per hospital (Switzerland is number one, France third, Belgium fourth). All of this costs money, even under a free system. It’s why others are limited with what they have and how many they hire. It’s all that can be afforded. Anyone in the US that turns up at the emergency room HAS to be seen. They cannot be turned away, even if they have no insurance. This process has hurt many workers due to how many don’t even pay the bill, but it’s a system in place so we people can be treated nonetheless. I will say the cost can be ridiculous at times and I’ve suffered hefty bills myself, but access is still there. There are programs and benefits in place for those in need at *no cost* (disabled, low income, elderly, etc.), as well. Is it selective? Yes, because too many take what they don’t need, which hinders those that do …. however it is there. It’s why politicians that run on “free! free! free!” never actually do anything once their position is secured. They know how the system works, but also know the people largely don’t, so they use it to their advantage and just blame opponents when it never happens. They know and understand the drawbacks that would occur as the number of people populating the country alone would continue to skyrocket under such a system more than what it is now under costly healthcare. That stuff matters when discussing healthcare as a whole. *TLDR* : It’s the cost of having the most equipment (CT scanners, MRIs, ICU units/beds), along with many doctors, nurses, general staff, emergency rooms, specialized treatment/research centers, studies, number of hospitals, faster life-saving treatments, etc. There are programs/benefits in place to help those who need it at no cost (elderly, disabled, low income, etc.) or at a very low cost compared to the average prices. There’s a reason why people travel from all over the world to be treated in America at some of the most world-renowned facilities regardless how many complain about them. Population and country size also plays an important role in healthcare the more people go into the field and work within it, as well. It’s why it’s unbalanced to compare certain countries and their healthcare “success” to America’s setup, leaving out important factors that make it successful _for them_ …. The more people = more workers = more equipment = cost. All of it is important to factor in, but is largely ignored for disingenuous arguments.

I agree. He does go a bit political which I find unpalatable for the work he's doing, storytelling. Jiles however is so amazing at his craft that I try to disregard this. I'm just thinking that perhaps his very left leaning comments may put off some center or conservative people. That's just a thought as I agree, he should have at least a million. Does anyone watch Mr. Ballen? He's really great at storytelling as well as true crime and has shot up to 5 million plus in a short time. Highly recommend him and he's an ex navy seal. Check him out! I love to recommend excellent work.

For most hospitals, nursing homes, rehabs etc only give a f’q about the money coming in. Every single one of them is ALWAYS understaffed. They care more about bad publicity and lawsuits then they do their patients. I believe most doctors go into the field to help and eventually get sucked into the bs. Then saving lives becomes a saving money issue. Unbelievable this man keep going and going and going, all because of bad publicity & 💰. My sincerest condolences to the families of this story. The evil angel of death nurse who killed my grandfather and many others is still among us. Richard Williams was charged with first degree murder of 10 people in 1992. He worked at the Veterans hospital in Columbia Missouri. Someone screwed up the paperwork and he got off. He was let go from a nursing home prior to working there because a lot of patients died while he was with them. Succinylcholine was undetectable back then. He would inject them with it and then watch them die. They later exhumed some of the bodies and were able to test they were all positive with it. We never got our justice over this and he’s out here somewhere.

Like WTAF?!? The safety of the patients should be the number one priority, not hiding a killers actions, there is just so much negligence here that the hospitals are equally as monstrous as Charles.

As someone who almost died because of incompetent hospital staff, I feel this. When you first complain they assign you someone they call a "patient advocate" but I'm not ignorant and could tell this person's job was to mitigate damage to the hospital. So I take issue with you boiling it down to people being litigious when I tried to get them to take responsibility for the financial and physical damage they caused me. I then tried to find an attorney to take my case with no luck without paying a lot upfront. Meanwhile people continue to get hurt in this hospital. The statute of limitations in my state is only two years. Since then the repair job they did on me when I became septic, which entailed cutting me for my sternum to bikini line, has herniated and I need a complete abdominal wall reconstruction.

I'm sorry your grandpa died but that sounds like an honest mistake and surgeons are just people too. Getting old sucks but you have a very improper view point of what happened. Your grandfather was already old, already sick, already dying. The surgeons were trying to save him, they didn't. That's life. You cannot blame them. That's disingenuous. This guy killed healthy people, some of them were in their early 20s. He knew that his intent was the death of said patient. The surgeon who left the scalpel inside your grandfather didn't intend kill him. He made a mistake. And you shouldn't spend your entire life being angry about it. Move on.

I'm so sorry and r.i.p to him. I lost my grandmother recently as well and I'm not entirely sure if it was foul play but there was definitely some fishy ish going on. She had covid and was in emergency care and the hospital she was sent to was know to be EXTREMELY unsanitary and was even broadcasted on the news because it was so bad(I didn't know until afterwards unfortunately though). We weren't able to visit due covid restrictions but a nurse called to inform us and we were told that she recovering well and would be better in no time. Next thing I know, the same nurse calls 2 days and tells my family that she was in hospice. I was shocked because we were told she was doing better and giving usually has a great recovery rate but that was all the nurse said and we weren't told anything else until she passed. I've had family members that have gone to that hospital before and were treated horribly and either didn't make it or picked up other things while they were there. It angers me but I don't think suing them would do anything since there isn't proof of foul play ):

My mom’s not too far from Overlook, and even tho they rushed her in from a 911 call, they dicked around first few hours with gdamn Covid testing before anything else. Meanwhile she needed surgery in her intestines immediately. Things are stable now at least. Again, sorry bout gmoms. ❤️

It's one thing to murder people. It's quite a different beast to kill people who trust you to take care of them. Nurses who murder are the worst. Love the channel. I watch every single episode, including Somewhere Sinister. Inspirational work. Never stop!

I just love the way you share these cases! The slight sarcasm in the delivery is always on point, and informative! Thank you for keeping the victims cases alive, all while entertaining those of us who listen to them! Ummm , any dr or nurse who needs to change places of work as often as Charles did should’ve been investigated regardless!

Giles did you know that the creator of the polygraph machine did talks and addresses for years in which he thoroughly denounced his own machine? It's a gimmick and it will find you guilty if the operator already thinks you're guilty.

Working in a hospital provided him easy access to victims and the drugs needed to kill them. No doubt if Charles didn't work in a hospital to begin with he would have committed murder(s) that provided him with easy access to victims and a weapon (such as a gun) where he could kill from a far and get enjoyment watching the aftermath . He craved attention also by victimising himself with unintentional suicide attempts (making sure he got to hospital in time) ensuring the risk to his live was minimal. I believe he was using this to set up a defense.
