The playing was good, reminded me of what Marcus Miller might do but with some extra tapping. I think you should do something more ambitious a 15 minute medley of various MJ songs. But I think this stuff is getting to easy for you. Jazz improvisation is more out of your comfort zone (although I know you can play Donna Lee and Teen Town as well as anybody) but if you devote a half hour to improvising swing feel I think it would open up a big door for you in several months and expand your audience. The exciting potential of that is to do a live video where you do some improvising and there is a risk of mistakes People love to hear the humanity of making a mistake and then the ability to recover from it and keep playing.

Such a great bass line - the only way to improve it was to play it on a BASS 😎

Fun Fact: The Slap Bass that we hear in Smooth Criminal is actually played on a Synthesizer called: “Synclavier II” *Pronunciation Sin-Clav-ee-air* and the Patch Note is called: “Muted Piano” by Christopher Currell and another Bass Synth: “MiniMoog”. It would later be played on an actual Bass by Bassist: “Alex Al”.

I love how you're looking super professional playing your instrument expertly like basically no one else in the world can while wearing your incredibly handsome shirt and the caption in the corner simply reads "slappidy slap" 😂
A super smooth Bass criminal. You're not beating those "slap and tap" charges.
New Charles video? It's an immediate like👍
Absolutely love this cover! Amazing well done 🤩👏🏽
a very underrated part of the original is the ACTUAL bassline, it's in the pocket, groovy, and smooth (pun intended?). Honestly when the song is remixed or covered it's often left out in favor of something more flashy and "fun to play". but it really is the backbone to the whole original.
Dude is otherworldly
The Annie are you ok part is insanely good
You’re possible the greatest base player that has ever lived. No exaggeration. You’re single handedly redefining what is possible on base. Incredible stuff mate and absolutely sick cover!
Dear Lord!!! Now this is how it supposed to be done!!! Killer bass player!

Remember it's multiple takes for the guitar and the video. And the editor selects the best audio and video takes then combines them. Hopefully that makes you feel better.
This guy doesn't play bass, he is one with the bass
Nicely done as always you smooth criminal.

Just awesome!!!
I thoroughly enjoy watching a master of his craft.
YES !!!
Dude...this guy is incredible.
everytime you cover a song it sounds fresh and new and Its always great to hear it again reimagined
I'm running a music club this summer for my school's summer school program. Kids will be learning ukulele, but I'm also throwing in some music history and bass appreciation . I had already planned to show off a bass concerto movement on upright and You Can't Hold No Groove on bass guitar with a teacher that plays drums I definitely want to toss in at least an excerpt of this!
Wow 🤩
Why am I crying? This was ASTOUNDING! The soul doesn't lie...BRAVO!!
This is the best - after your short I was hoping for a full length and you did not disappoint! Slaptastic genius!
Very nice!
Slaptastic
I don’t see many people playing a bass. Let alone playing a bass the way Charlie plays. Sooo ima go out on a limb here and say this guy is the number one bassist in the world right now. Maybe all of history

Charles is FREAKIN' AMAZING and truly a world-class bassist. I love, love, LOVE his playing! But he will probably tell you himself to go and check out some of his major influences, such as Victor Wooten (who literally invented some of the techniques that Charles uses), before declaring him the best in the world. (Plus, you'll be doing yourself a favor if, as you say, you don't see many people playing bass, and basically none playing like Charles. Just go watch some Victor Wooten right now! Lots of videos of him on KZread -- watch some and then you'll recognize some hilarious little bits where Charles has pasted short clips of Victor into his videos. Then come back and watch more videos of Charles, because he is also amazing!)
Awesome🎉

I keep coming back to this... I'm Gen X and grew up with this song on the radio. I became a Metal Head but THIS!!!? This literally draws tears it's so freaking amazing. And I'm a 35 year long guitar player who believes Shawn Lane is the G.O.A.T. But this.... I mean Charles has taken over as my favorite and (in my opinion) greatest instrumentalist of all time.
