Charging Central A/C System With One Hose Method | HVAC
I've been seeing a few other people do this method and decided to give it a shot. I might have to try this a few times to see how I like it, but for now, I don't see too much of an issue with it. I don't have to carry as much stuff with me to charge up a unit. Most of the fittings stay in my bag already. What do you guys think, any of you using this method or thinking about it?

"Are you ready to do this?" "RreaaRhh!" lol wtf XD
I use the one hose method a lot when I do an install. It’s just easier because I already have my core removers on the unit and all I need is my probes and a hose.

Now that I understand. I normally use that with my vacuum, 3/8 hose on suction line and micron gauge on high side port.
At 6:08 you show additional vent in the return. If the line clogs after that vent since it’s lower than the AC pan, it will overflow into the return all over the floor that vent should be higher than the AC pan.

There was only 1 vent, the float switch isn't a vent. But you are 100% correct about the vent I put in the return needing to be bigger, there's just no space on that platform
I love the probe charging. I give it a 10 out of 10. I use two core depressor on both high and low side and low and a ball valve on my hose for control. I use the field piece core removal tool for it too.

I was thinking about getting the one sight glass/valve vcrt, everyone's kind of saying it's worth the money

I figured you'd have to hold something down. I gotta say I'm not normally a fan of honeywells but that one ain't bad
I like it
Jake got his own truck now. I’m working at my job just started 3 weeks ago. I’m happy I’m in school still so everything is fresh and I can apply it out in the field… I already got my own truck. And I’m on call.

You're fresh to the service side and you're already on call? Good 💩! Take it all in stride and don't be afraid to call a buddy for help. I've learned it's real easy to overlook a problem that's right in your face and just hearing someone else's idea of what might be wrong (whether they're wrong or right) can point you back in the direction of finding the problem

@@AB_HVAC Today was going smoothly and then you get those units that don’t wanna go back together after you take the panels off.. my right hand been getting sliced up the last 2 weeks lol. I hate wearing gloves.
Get charging tees for the smart probes, just leave them on when you check pressures, they work like low loss fittings basically, so when you need to charge up you just hook your hose up to the open spot on the charging tee

Ooohh okay. I'll have to look into them although I've never had luck with them personally.

Smart probes, charging tees and measure quick combo is the way to go once you get used to everything. I’ve used mine daily for about 3 years, love them !

Dang 3 years! Might have to take you up on it then
If there were two pea traps I would have just removed one of them. Yes a vent is necessary for two traps to drain properly,.but if the lower line clogs water will just dump out the top over the vent because the float is higher than the vent.
@AB_HVAC
Ай бұрын
Well the second one wasn't a real trap, more so just...a sinking pvc line lol. And there wasn't too much room under the house on that side the lineset is ran on the ground too not supported at all. I just wanted to make sure it was draining
Using core remover is not practical at all. These are a game changer.

Wait what do you mean by "these"? Fieldpiece has VCRT's now that have the sight glasses and in my opinion better valves

@AB_HVAC I just snagged the fieldpiece vcrt with the sight glass and 2 valves. It's pricey, but it is very well built. Much heavier construction than any other one I've tried.

@@oilandfireguy1739 are you using it to charge systems? Is it good at even gripping valve cores?

@AB_HVAC haven't used it yet, just got it at the end of the day today. But it's clear that it's very high quality. Heavy as hell. Vacumm rated. And you can get a piece to make it 5/16.
