Wow there are actually so many practical effects! I was wondering how this movie looked so real

Loved this film and watching this makes me want to see it again! PS I love that Chappie is mocap...it makes it easier for the other actors to be in the scenes with someone to act off of instead of looking at a ping pong ball on the end of a stick.

Interestingly, they didn't mocap. He used a gray suit with capture markers, but only around the joints. He was basically traced for reference after the roto. The gray gives you lighting reference, the joint markers give you a teensy bit of articulation, but basically Chappie was keyframe animated throughout. Your point stands, though! Having Sharlto on set was undoubtedly essential for the other performers.

The special effects for chappie are incredibly realistic. They still look great today.

I might be the only one that thinks this movie is better than district 9

***** maybe he is a good "sci-fi visualist". He still has to learn to write a script that doesn't seem out from a 13 year old. District 9 is the less stupider from the 3, BY FAR.

kardez13 I liked the way weta made the exo suit for district 9. They obviously made the chappie and moose figures on their desks too. Those were cool.

just watched this movie on netflix :) its good :D

I really like Chappie's design, wish there would be a police robot like this

I feel like this movie started with alot of ideas with big casting then when the cut came around they centered it more on chappie and his relationships so alot got axed. Like segourney did not need to be there and although Hugh is Hugh and nailed his role his talent felt gigantic compared to what he was given. Still a great film and one of few I sincerely desire a sequel to

such an amazing film! and so underrated!

Just watch this and realised it's a spiritual reboot of District 9... Anyway, it's a 9/10 for me. What took the final point away was the bad/amateur use of slow-mo during the climax.

It was a great movie 🎥 we need a sequel

Philipp Benedikt She's a stills photographer. Probably publicity photos. It's a normal stills camera with a big black soundproof case surrounding it. The purpose is to silence the camera shutter noise so it won't be picked up by actor's microphones or boom mic.

They use blank guns, acts like real guns just fires dummy ammunition. so same recoil and everything just cant shoot real stuff

vfthb098 are you sure about this? look inside the barrel it is all dusty and bricky there also when he puts one in a tiny peace falls apart and i dont think that foam would do that

2salzig2spucknapp It's probably dusty in there so that a smoke cloud comes up when the fire it off. Styrofoam is really fragile too so pieces can break off easily.
