Clancy Brown's onscreen presence is just so _powerful._

I doubt it would've been released while he was alive. I think some of the family did object to this movie, even though he was dead by this point. Btw, if Joseph Kennedy had not been incapacitated, or if the older brothers(JFK and RFK) had been alive, Chappaquiddick would never have been heard of.

@@sean2015 I think the fact that it was released and that so many big names were attached to it demonstrates something. The Kennedy’s don’t have as much pull as they used to.

@@grovercleavland2698 but Ted Kennedy had substantial pull while he was alive. Hollywood is dominated by Liberals, and if someone had tried to make this film while Kennedy was alive, all it would've taken to pull the plug on such a project would be one phone call from the Senator's office to the head of whatever studio. Actually, many conservatives were (and still are) quite shocked that this movie was released at all.

I do wonder, in real life,, if Joseph P. Kennedy, despite being incapacitated, really tried to help Ted after the incident?

Just watched this incredible movie. Was more true story of what possibly happened with coverup. LMAO when cohorts told Ted what a putz he looked like when he wore that neck brace to funeral!!!! And then it suddenly disappeared!!! And then he told people he was taking sedatives when he had a concussion!!!!! He wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer!!!!! Too bad he didn’t get to watch the movie!!!

I just have to say this because even today nine years after Ted Kennedy's passing he's still being demonized and judged by people who pride themselves on being Kennedy haters. This was a tragic incident where a young woman unfortunately lost her life. Mary Joe Kopechne wasn't even thirty years old and had her whole life ahead of her. My heart goes out to her surviving family members who I'm sure are still grieving to this day. But, what bothers me is that people are making Ted out to be some monster when in truth he was a deeply-flawed human being. It's not like he came out of this unscathed either. That day haunted him for the rest of his life and not to mention caused irreparable damage to his political career. I believe in 1980 he campaigned for the presidency and his campaign crashed and burned. Why did he make it safely out of the car and leave Mary Joe to drown in it? How would the outcome have been different had he made better, more responsible decisions? These are questions that will be asked until the end of time and there will never be a clear, definite response to and for either of them. Look... I'm not trying to excuse or justify what Ted did but deep down he wasn't a horrible person and guilt and remorse due to his failure ate away at his conscience for forty years after that fateful day.

Ted Kennedy was a dishonest scumbag! Wake up and realize his family’s money kept him out of jail and bought lil’ Teddy the senate seat. They thought their kids deserved to rule, like a royal family.
