Chaple Stile Village Walk | The Lake District National Park Cumbria | 4K

Chapel Stile is a village in Cumbria, England, located approximately 5 miles northwest of Ambleside, within the Langdale valley. It contains a school, Holy Trinity church, the Co-op and the Wainwrights' Inn (formerly The Langdale Hotel), and a quarry is located in the vicinity. Couples who choose to get married at the church are traditionally 'tied in' during the service. The local children tie up the church gates and the newlyweds are only released when coins (of small denomination) are thrown to said children. The Co-op has been established for well over a hundred years. Chapel Stile also gives access to the Langdale Pikes, Pike o' Stickle and Harrison Stickle. Other notable fells nearby are Pavey Ark, Bowfell and Pike o' Blisco. Rock climbing in the area includes Raven Cragg. A worthy climbing venue and less populated than its famous counterpart further in the Langdale valley at the back of the Old Dungeon Ghyll.

Thankyou very much Ian for the super thanks.. Inspires me greatly and love that my filming is being enjoyed.. I have been through Chapel Style many times over the years, and it is the gate way to the Langdale Valley, which leads to three mountain passes, which are breath taking.. Blea, Wrynose and Hardnotts pass.. this was the first time, i walked up to the church and discovered the cottages up at the top!🥾

Its really special..a contract of all landscapes..I try to get there a few times a month..I was in the Yorkshire Dale's, which is also unique and outstanding 🥾

Such a gorgeous walk! Thankyou for posting. I'm beginning to think winter may actually be the best season for a walking tour in England because so much beauty is revealed when the leaves fall!

Yes, it definitely has its benefits! I love walking in Winter, especially when its crystal clear! Starting to get pritty cold now, so hopefully get some good nature footage 📽🥾

We thought that. If you holiday in the summer and the weather's bad it's a disappointment. In winter, it doesn't seem to matter - and it's a lot cheaper!

Christmas holidays in the village in the 60s and remember in the 70s at building that had a hovis sign on sold petrol

Stunning location! That old church in the last third of your video looks an interesting visit. As for those narrow roads, now I know what I haven't ventured into the Lakes 😅 I would lose my mind driving along those!

Amazing that slate church.. great views from just above that church too.. yes, them roads do get interesting..especially further on past Chapel Stile.. Wrynose and Hardnotts pass arnt for the faint hearted!😄
It's actually 'Chapel Stile' - if you approach from near the bridge in Elterwater Village and keep to the left of the River Brathay, you see a lovely little weir as you come into Chapel Stile.

Oh, thankyou for spotting that mistake..I've corrected it now 👍 I will have to have a look at that weir.. love it all around there..I'm planning to film the walk up from Elter water and into the valley into Great Langdale.. stunning area.. enjoy camping at Great Langdale..thanks again, Jon 🥾

@@relaxingwalks_uk Obviously the Elterwater to Skelwith Bridge walk is amongst the most popular and beautiful in Cumbria - I tend to go to Chesters for a coffee (+ cake) then head over the bridge and on to the route past Colwith Force waterfall, the farm used in various films and on to Cathedral Cave, but 'Slater's Bridge' in Little Langdale will always be special for me. Then head back up the meandering path towards Elterwater (short walk to that weir from there)
