I think that was intentional. The idea is that this is a private conversation between the Cat and the kids, so as we the audience enter the scene, he quickly dismissed the convo and gestures to his lawyers to exit the scene. At least that’s how I interpreted it.

this movie was way ahead of its time. the critics butchered this film for its style of comedy and the directors choices of costumer design but he had the task of taking a simple Dr. Seuss Rhyme and turning it into a more complicated plot. He did what he could and he was the costume and set designer for Edward Sissorhands, this film is an underrated gem 💎 considering so many kids(adults now) and adults then loved it.

The way the Guy in the sweater that asks all the obvious questions gets startled every time the chef shouts "I'm so EXCITED" will always make me laugh.

If you view this movie as an adaptation of the source material, it's absolutely godawful. But if you view it as a comedy by itself, it's probably one of the most hilarious movies ever made.

What’s funny about this movie was Mike Myers’s had to be sued by the studio to make it because he absolutely didn’t want to do it! He seriously tried everything to get out of being in it but had signed a contract to make 3 movies and had no choice
