Man, this is soooo good! I used to hunt for mushrooms as a little kid with my grandpa and mom. Didn't do it since then. I'm dying for some chanterelles, and I feel like for the first time in my life I wanna go hunt for them myself after all of these years. They ARE super delicious! Little fox mushrooms they are 😂 😋🦊🐱 Thanks for the awesome video!

Good video for someone just getting into picking these golden goodies. I live in South West PA and this summer they have been pretty plentiful until recently due to the lack if rain. Most people get bummed out when they see rain in the forecast but I get excited because I know some chanterelles will be poping up. The darn squirrels like them too so you have to try and beat them to the goods lol. Love to see more videos about some other varieties too. Thanks and good picking.👍

I am an amateur but I am very interested in mushroom identification and there's only three mushrooms I feel very comfortable with not poisoning myself that's the morel the chantrelle and the oyster mushroom and at this point I believe I have a crap load of small chanterelles growing in my yard which I did last year also I am very interested in finding out more about other edibles mushrooms that won't kill me. I'm just so skeptical on finding mushrooms I think are right but are deadly because not 30ft away from the chanterelles or some of the most deadliest mushrooms I know of which I bagged and put in the trash so the dogs would not eat it. It is September 3rd and we just had a storm they started to pop up being the chanterelle mushroom. So in your opinion what would be another good one to learn about that's fairly easy to identify

I'm a new here in Appalachia and already found Chicken of the Woods, and now these but the Cinebar-Chanterelle. Bright red. Also found the Jack-o-lanterns. Also found a hugh white mushroom grows about 10-12 inches across. They don't look edible, but I haven't identified them yet.

I think the only thing I would add is if a person has never tried a wild mushroom they should first eat a very small portion and wait at least 30 minutes to see if they are allergic.. Especially city slickers that have never eaten farm fresh foods before.. Not everyone can tolerate wild mushrooms.. My top 5 favorites are Morels, Hen of the woods, Chanterelles, oyster mushroom, and chicken mushroom (or chicken of the woods).. all are choice edibles..

I've studied mushrooms for the last three years and I always say if ur not sure it's probably not what ur looking for, but I usually do a spore print to verify. But it's hard cuase chanterelles have same spore print as Jack's. But if they are trumpet shape and don't have gills, ridges instead. And the flesh is white and growing on the ground not on wood, and single not clustered you most likely have a chanterelles. Jack o lantern and false chants are the only look alikes I've read of, if u seen a jack o u would be able to tell them apart pretty easy. But u always check and double check identity and read everything u can on species of the mushroom u are hunting.
