The Channel Islands Neck Beard 3 is the latest incarnation of the near iconic Neck Beard. This time its been given the round tail treatment which gives it far greater appeal to a wider range of surfers. The previous square tail versions were epic speed generating aerial machines which still surfed fine as a daily driver this new round tail version creates a board which is more user friendly. It retains the same speed generating characteristics but now gives a more controlled responsive surf with better hold. The board is basically the same as the NB2 apart from the tail change but Britt Merrick has added the trademark CI hip and made the existing single concave run right throw the board taking out the exit vee. The wave range is pretty similar, waist to a little overhead, but the round tail is going to give a more precise surf in terms of turns, a little more hold at the top end of its wave range and smoother surfing in the pocket.
The five fin setup gives you the option to ride as a quad or thruster, depending on the conditions you choose your set up.
Spine-Tek technology is the result of a Channel Islands and Shapers Australia collaboration with the aim to further enhance the flex response of modern surfboards. Spine-Tek features a precision engineered spine/stringer made from a unique blend of fibreglass and resin which replaces the original wooden stringer. This revolutionary tech is based on the principles of elastic energy; the board flexes under pressure and then rapidly returns to its original rocker-line.
