"If it's from Rupert Murdoch he can stuff it up his jumper." I rather like that fellow.

It wasn’t a fair fight. The utterly incompetent IBA and all the rules it imposed on BSB - and then the right people weren’t in charge of it.

I must admit I thought it was launched a bit (several years?) earlier in the 80s than that. We used to visit my Nan's and aunt's houses in Milton Keynes and they had Sky in its infancy. I remember it having plenty of channels but not a large amount of content yet,so they kept having to repeat the same list of programmes (typically in the same order) several times a day! That became a source of amusement to me at the time.

@@rjjcms1 It was. Sky Channel went as far back as 1984 (or 1982 if you include SATV). But that was only on cable, or (unofficially) someone with a very large dish. This was the direct to home launch via the Astra satellite.

@@steeviebops Thanks. I was sure I wasn't just dreaming when I recalled their houses having it already at least as far back as the summer of 1986.

Hard to even believe that Andrew was still in his 30s there!
