Changsha, the Gateway to Zhangjiajie - China | The Travel Intern

So you might have heard of the Avatar Hallelujah Mountains and all of its grandeur. HOWEVER!! It can get pretty tricky planning a trip there.
But before we let you in on our tips~ Here’s an article for you: thetravelintern.com/china-und...
CHANGSHA (00:33)
00:40 - Huangxing Road
This walking street stretches SO a couple kilometres, but even if you walk from one end to the other, it won’t feel like you’ve walked several rounds around the track because there are endless things to eat, see and buy!
01:11 - Yuelu Shan (Mount Yuelu)
01:25 - Chuan Shi Po Lake
Also known as Yuelu Mountain, it’s a pretty sweet getaway from the city of Changsha!
*Pro-tip: Bring your student IDs for 50% off tickets up!
01:41 - Meixihu Cultural & Arts Center
Feels like you’ve stepped into another world.. Really. The infrastructure is crazy huge, and even with our lil mavic birdie up in the air to the MAX ALT HEIGHT, it couldn’t capture a top-down shot encompassing the whole campus!
01:53 - Juzizhou (Orange Isle)
Here’s where you can visit the iconic landmark of Changsha - Chairman Mao’s head! Tour the museum to find out more about his background and life story~
02:20 - Xihulou (West Lake Restaurant)It’s not everyday you get to dine in Asia’s largest Chinese restaurant… The food is pretty sick too, and you get to choose between different mini restaurants inside!
ZHANGJIAJIE (02:43)
02:46 - Laowuchang
This is believed to be the best sunrise spot in Zhangjiajie National Park, recommended to us by locals!
02:58 - Avatar Hallelujah Mountain
Here’s what you came for - the very, very, very famous Hallelujah Mountain. It was used as the inspiration of the Avatar movie’s other-worldly landscape.
03:09 - Bailong Elevator
It’s quite an experience, descending into the depths of ZJJ National Park!
03:22 - Baofeng Lake
Take a soothing, serene boat ride through Baofeng Lake to end the day~
03:35 - Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
This is also another super famous and iconic landmark in ZJJ, but beware though, at ALL hours through the day, it’s going to be a crowded time. But don’t let that stop you from exploring different ways to pose for a picture ;-)
*Pro-tip: Get inspo from the locals themselves, they’re pretty solid at that.
03:57 - Tianmen Mountain
04:09 - Glass Bottom Cliffside Path
Tianmen Mountain is situated nearer to the city of ZJJ, not high up where the national park is, so do take note! Also, yay to more glass bottom bridges and paths!!
Next Wednesday, we’ll be bringing you more in-depth tips on how to scale Zhangjiajie, it’ll be super duper useful, so stay tuned!!

We adopted our daughter in 1998 from Changsha China. We visited Orange Isle in 1998. In 2019 we went back to show her her birth city of Changsha. Visited the caves and the glass bridge in Zhangjiajie . Great trip, people were wonderful and sights were out of this world. Highly recommend!
