Big thank you, I know this vid is almost 3 years old but it was a big help. I gave my planer to my father in law years ago, got it back last year and , well, it needed a bunch of TLC. Now I know what that tool was for i chased around for years in my TOol area (blade adjuster). Well, sadly i have either lost, misplaced or threw away. TIme to get to making a new one.. Thank you again.

I have this exact, same model that I bought brand new some 15/16 years ago. I put the 4" Dust/Chip hood on it and, made a much longer In & Out Feed table for it measuring ¾" x 12" x 5½' that slips in and replaces the two small in and out feed tables that came with it. Just shim it for your planning station situation so it's firm and level and it eliminates the overwhelming majority of snipe.

I have that planer, but lost the springs. Have ordered new but do have the original wrench and knife setting jig. Guess that jig is rare - thank you for the video.

Nice planer. I will have to look around for a used one. I've always wanted one but like you say they are crazy expensive. Take Care.

Yours is the first video I saw where the person actually had that setting guide. Everyone else struggled quite a bit to get the height just correct and consistent. I'll have to figure out a way to re-create something like that.

How's she goin'? Great job changing the blades. That is a pretty simple job isn't it. I just did a total maintenance on my Mastercraft Planer which is identical to the Delta. Great job and it plans some nice too eh!!!

Very informative. Thanks for making this video. You must be a machinist/tool and die maker of some sort to produce a height gage for the blades. If you do, I may suggest you can mass produce them and sell it on line. You can make so many wood worker enthusiast like me very happy to buy it from you.

how much did you pay for yours? I got one of these and a router with bits for 100 bucks, since i didn't know whether either of them worked and either did the seller. Just curious if i got a good deal. I tested it out, and it works fine

It is the same one I just got. Thanks for the explanation. I was just wondering what blade model you had for the planner. And where did you find the knife setting tool. Thanks

It sounds, from what I gathered, it came with the machine when he bought it. You can still order them, either from Delta, or some parts place like "e-ReplacementParts;,", etc. I get blades from Woodcraft and, I believe, that's where I also ordered the 4" Dust/Chip Hood for it.

The new blades looked reversible. So were the old blades worn out on both sides or not reversible?

  • @johnbesharian9965

They are "Reversible", as you call them. {2 edged.} So are the replacement "Wood River" brand ones from Woodcraft.
