Up back and through is the Brighton way.. I’m a big fan of hitting teh nine and playing off him with the 10 or 8

This is all good but I think you should elaborate on when to use these different hats, at the youth level not all teams are possessive players still developing: for example when would a team use inside forwards do those forwards have to be skilled or just sheer speed, having fast players inside together may be counter productive as if they get the ball in the half space they’ll have to have good touch and decision making. But also if you have fast players and put them wide but are not very technical it becomes redundant. I guess I am trying to figure out which personal suits each hat. The last one is a false 9 and they usually have to be able to link play (Messi role for Barca). I like the different hats but I think some coaches always need clarity when to use these hats for their personal not necessarily against opponents. To know opponents one must know themselves, no?

Thank you for the post Jordan and for watching. I see your point... we try to keep the videos shorter and provoke more questions amongst coaches than give a full webinar-type format so we can produce more content. I would absolutely agree with your point about knowing yourself... both your team and your role as a coach... it's about finding that balance right between putting players in positions that can help the team and also getting them experience in roles where they can improve technically and tactically. Thanks again and appreciate the support.

@@modernsoccercoach makes sense , thanks for the videos they are great I tailor most of them to what i want out of the session but it’s great to have a base like you provide. The reason why I asked is because this season I’ve played 442 433 with one attacking and now going into 343 I have a very dynamic team with speed power some technical some still developing and it’s been hard to find the right balance with what I have.

Hey Jordan, it really depends on where you are starting from; if the kids are just coming from 9v9, then getting them playing on the bigger field, and getting a sense for the build-up phases takes some time. If they have been 11v11 a season or 2, then maybe the hats concepts get broken down to a more basic topic like "where can you move to create 2v1's" or "Where can we move to outnumber the opponent". I have a U15 boy's team so I know what you mean about the levels.
