Make sure to use antisieze on the spark plug threads and also dielectric grease on the boot to coil and boot to spark plug connections. You'll be thankful you did the next time you check/change your plugs

AC Delco spark plug wires have a limited lifetime as well. Great video.

Did the plugs and wires on my 15 GMC Sierra today. Glad I saw your video. Thought I was going to have to remove the wheel well. Took me a less than 2 hours. Have to admit #8 plug and wire kicked my butt after that pretty smooth sailing. I didn’t remove the covers just kind of lifted them out of the way.

Going through the wheel well is so much easier and less hassle. And for the rear passenger plug just use socket, then swivel attachement the extension. Did it on mine. Less headache

@@JessyWorld yea i wasnt to sure how i was gonna change them. If i was gonna do old school way. But watched a few vids and wheel well just made sense since i was changing brake rotor and pads at same time. Helps having a quarter inch impact also.

FYI change your transmission fluid on those trucks every 40 to 50 k. You can just drop the pan and change the 7 quarts of Mercon 6. Use AC Delco fluid and filter.

It is a lot easier to take off the passenger wheel and splash guard than crawl on top of engine. Not all people are as young and light weight as you. Also you can see what your doing working from the wheel well.

I don't know if my 01 Yukon is different because I had no issues getting all the plugs out of the 5.3 a week ago, it's completely stock nothing removed, getting Both rear plugs was no issue at all?? I just used a Stanley 3/8 ratchet a 3/8 swivel and a spark plug socket, the front driver's side I had to use an extension. Maybe the other GM vehicles are different under the hood? The only reason I watched a bunch of YT videos about it was because someone said it's a PITA to get the last plugs and I would probably need to remove the wheel wells. Nope I got all 8 replaced in under 45 minutes including the wires. I can say wefe long overdue the gap was 2x what it was supposed to be but it was running fine, ill probably gain a few extra MPGs now😊

I did mine from the top as well. My biggest issue was removing the spark plug boots. They were welded onto the plugs.. Had to break a couple. Otherwise not so bad of a job.

  • @JessyWorld

Reason why I changed them because at the time when I recorded this video , I barely just got the truck . So I recommend any that buys a new “used” car/truck , do a full tune up . So at least you know when they have been maintenance
