The proudest of servicemen --- these men join the British army for the pride of being a Gurkha soldier, pride for themselves, their families and their history.

Nice to see a Gurkha RSM as well.

Not only are the Gurkhas considered one of the best fighting forces in the world, they're also considered one of the most loyal too.

The bravest of the brave. Very smart on parade too The Guard were a credit to the Gurkhas.

It was still bad. If you start to let off your guard commander for small things like these then when will it stop? Maybe my time’s standard was higher than yours but assuming you joined in 2000 or in 05, my generation would have been senior SNCO’s or Majors/Lt Colonels. But still standards and standards and that’s why it’s the British Army.

Its light infantry drill. The foot guard drill is more of a swagger. There isnt really a better, it's just different. You will notice that the Gurkhas switch to the swagger too at certain points.

At 1:58 I just cannot believe that they built Windsor Castle and Victoria Barracks right under the flight path of Heathrow Airport

Gurkha are Nepalese, (Asians).

That’s witless wonder of a Bugle Major who bloody well should have known better at 16:31 nearly interfered with the mounting L/C who’s about to read the mounting instructions. What an asshole truly. Hope the adjutant had a word about it to him. Never would seen such a thing over 25 years ago. Never.

Why do some members of the band look overweight? I thought everyone in the army had to be fit? It sort of looks bad for the real Gurkhas following behind.

They have to pass soldier fitness tests, but for bandsmen it's sort of different. Big lungs and stamina help a great deal for certain instruments. I agree with you in that I am not terribly fond of how it looks, but its deceptive.

@@deliadunstan846 First and foremost soldiers that means they should be fit. How can they expect to be able to carry a fallen mate in a conflict? Sorry to disagree, but why are their squad leaders allowing them to balloon, he should be sending them on a yomp or to the gym.

@@Elfin4 bandsmen are non-combatants.they used to be trained as medical orderlies,but even this has been dropped as they don't have the time to keep up with latest medical developments.they are now being trained as truck drivers.with only 14 bands left in the army,musical training takes all their time

You mean the British ones or the Gurkha the Gurkha are marching in Asian forms of marching and the brits in their ceremonial 200 year old grenadier uniform

@MrTherealpad - what people fail to realise is that the Gurka regiments have to learn two types of drill, standard quick march drill when they're marching with traditional soldiers, and double quick march drill when they're marching as a gurka regiment. Very impressive.
