Changing Mandolin Strings | Tips and Tricks

Музыка

Time to change mandolin strings. I show you how I change strings, stretch and tie off the new strings, and tune up (always up) to pitch.
This is my Eastman 914 oval hole that I don't really use very much so the strings tend to get neglected.
Oh and I put the wrong strings in the wrong place....it happens!

A Pro Winder Cutter would be cool & D'addario makes XT Coated strings which are updated versions of EXP Strings

I have D'addario 11-40 Xs I believe is the white pack of string but the strings I'm afraid are going to snap. How much slack for each string? I go by tuner so G, go to d, d go to top of headstock, a go to headstock, e go to a but idk if that's good

The D'addario XS strings replaced the EXPs I think. I just got my first set of them and I hear good things. I don't think they will snap as long as you bring them up to pitch slowly. A tuner is great to use and I do that a lot too. Happy picking!

You went too darn fast on the Treble side.... I needed to see which way you tucked the loose end either under, or over the string before winding it. Thanks.
