Changing A Wheelchair Caster Bearing Demonstration

In this video I demonstrate how I change a bearing in the caster of my power wheelchair. I used a screw driver to remove the old bearings and a rubber mallet to seat the bearing. I do this to engage in the best quality of life possible. In doing this myself when pain doesn't inhibit me I am able to work on my own schedule and not that of a service technician. This is peace of mind for evenings, weekends and holidays.

You are more than welcome. Best wishes in your testing. For your information I purchase my bearings from www.jsbgreatbearings.com They have been wonderful to deal with. Prices are very competitive when buying in bulk. I have a whole tool box specific for the tools needed to maintain my wheelchair.

What type of bearing is it?

It is specific to the wheelchair. You need to take the caster off your wheelchair and look at the bearing housing for a part # number embossed. What is common for 8 inch wheels is 608-2RS and 6 inch wheels is 1605-2RS. I source my wheelchair bearings from: www.jsbgreatbearings.com/ Look on their web site and you will see the bearing part # embossed in the housing so you know what you are looking for.
