    Great video as always Derek. I learn valuable information from every one of your videos and love watching them. Never seen a 'hot rod' configeration. Always thought the diverter hot water outlet went into the coil of the cyclinder further down not at the hot water outlet on the top of the tank

    Hi Derek -- good installation -- i've still a couple of customers with Halstead boilers -- they have been good for reliabilty -- but it's a good job coz the parts for them are big money -- i've changed dozens + dozens of open vent conventional boilers to sealed system combi boilers -- but one thing i'm always aware of is are the rads + the rad valves up to the extra pressure with a sealed system -- and also are the hot taps and any showers up to the extra pressure too -- iv'e been in many houses wjere the combi boiler has been operating 40 year old thermostatic showers !!! .

    Thank you for a very educational video. To me it seems as if you by-passed all of the cylinder and pipework by connecting the new combi-boiler heating flow into the central heating flow and then used the central heating return pipe to connect the filling loop. I have never seen hot rods before, I assume they are similar to the coil inside a hot water cylinder?

    That was hell of a job! Working through the tight space underneath those cupboards aren't gonna be easy can feel it. Quick question; when we install unvented cylinder, do we need to ask for permission prior to install? I know we have notify building control after we install it but little confused while my tutor told me it has to be done prior during my G3 cse but most of the info at the website said it only need to notify after install. Could you guide on this one please? Thank you

  • @tomkatgastraining

    @tomkatgastraining

    4 жыл бұрын

    ERRICK MAGAR if you hold the g3 qualification mate you don’t need to notify building control first you just need to register it after normally through gas safe like you would with a boiler but you have to inform gas safe first that you have the qualification or it won’t show in the drop down box. Hope that helps and thanks for watching cheers

  • @tomkatgastraining

    Not really sure what you are asking but it’s best practice to have vent cold feed and then pump so you don’t get air sucking in or the pump pumping over

    I've got a system sucking in air where the feed is on the return pipe and the pump is very close to the flow. I put cup of water in loft under vent pipe and it sucked it all out. Should I move the fill to between pump and flow/vent tee? Or convert to pressurised to solve problem
