CHANGING a MOMO STEERING WHEEL on a DEFENDER 110- Boss Removal / Upgrade & Removing Damaged Screws

How to remove a Defender Steering Wheel - Changing the Quick-Release MOMO Millenium Steering wheel on my Land Rover Defender 110 Utility for the new upgraded MOMO Prototipo Black Spoke Steering Wheel 350mm whilst retaining the Optimill Removable Boss was more difficult than I thought thanks to all the screw heads in the steering wheel unfortunately being damaged by the last owner, making it almost impossible to remove the steering wheel with normal tools. So I’m also now showing you how to remove damaged screws / bolts using an Easy Off tool / Easy Out tool that helps to extract ruined bolts.
It was an absolute pain getting the steering wheel off (completely down to the bolts being mullered by the previous owner), and like most things on a Defender it's a challenge but worth it for the end result. But it’s done now and it gives a much improved look, the new MOMO steering wheel really is a huge improvement and suits the Defender a lot better, hear my thoughts/review of the MOMO Prototipo steering wheel and let me know what you think of the change / how it improves the look of the interior.

Cheers, looked at quite a few designs and this one I feel just suits the Defender perfectly.
How did you integrate the directional cancellation connection between the optimill and the plastic cancel-er gizmo?
Loving the videos! As a recent new owner to a Defender, the videos have been really handy! Looking to upgrade to a removable boss with a similar heritage steering wheel, What boss spline / wheel size did you need to get? Keep the videos coming!

Thank you Zach, the wheel size on mine is 350mm which gives a fair bit extra room compared to the huge OEM wheel. I'm not 100% on the boss spline as the Optimill was already fitted on the vehicle when I purchased it, so the part you see being swapped over on the back of the wheel is just the bit that securely attaches to the main boss on the steering column. You should be able to find Spline info out easily enough though in any of the Landy forums. Thanks for watching and hope you're enjoying Defender ownership.

I believe Optimill include the shorter screws in their pack.
I finally got my black 2012 defender 110 today in Australia. I am so excited I can’t sleep. The original headlights on the defender is terrible. Do you have any suggestions of an upgrade led system? Much appreciated 🙏

Congrats! Yes definitely upgrade the headlights, I don't know about Australia but in the UK they need to be a certain standard to pass the annual MOT checks, so just make sure you buy from a decent place as there are lots of dodgy Chinese ones out there.
Hey there.. I have been looking at exactly the same wheel but have been told by some that 350mm is too small and horrendous on the highway.... They say they sweet spot is 380mm (Momo Montecarlo)

I find our size wheel absolutely perfect, guess it's just down to personal preference on sizing.

I'd love to but having the Optimill removable boss doesn't allow for it to be fitted.

Both wheels are 350mm
Can't stand people who do this there is 6 bolts why over tighten them
