Translink technicians still do not know about volume control at the Columbia Sky Train Station! From morning 8 to evening 8 every ten minutes there are loud Sky Train announcements at this station and we can hear from 14th floor of the building behind this place! No on knows to control volume individually. Maybe Technicians at the headquarters lost the manual for volume control!! And no answer from customer support after nearly two weeks of stress to the neighbourhood.

A+ to whoever made that 3D map, very neat. Only criticism is that the scale is of course very off, making the trains/tracks smaller and move slower would have been a better representation.

Yep! At most terminus stations of any rail/subway lines, train ends become beginnings. Meaning, there are controls or "driver" spots at both ends of the train. They simply switch the direction FRONT is and continue on the way! ^ac

Will there be any visual indication whether a expo line train is heading to King George vs Production Way, similar to Canada Line's signs for YVR and Richmond-Brighouse?
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
HI Kevin. It's my understanding that it will be similar to how the Millennium Line and Canada Line work today. There will be terminus notifications on the SkyTrain platforms signage as well as audio announcements. Likewise, I believe newer model SkyTrain cars with system maps with lights will also indicate the terminus stations. Thanks for the great question! ^rw

Now going to braid station is gonna suck.... I always take the Millennium line from commercial to braid cuz its quicker than the expo/millennium way... now i have to get off at lougheed and transfer trains just for one stop 😕
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
You can still take a train from Commercial-Broadway to Braid! Just take the Expo Line to Production Way-University after October 22. That stretch of the line includes Braid and you can have a single seat ride from CB to Braid. If you do want to stick to the Millennium Line, you could also transfer at Production Way-University on the same platform, that will save you some time if you choose that route. Thanks! ^ac
@tahanmartins6337 жыл бұрын
Why change the existing lines? It would have made sense to just add the Evergreen line and double up Lougheed to VCC/Clark (Evergreen + Millennium) like Waterfront to Columbia is currently doubled up (Expo + Millennium). Changing the way the system has been for years is going to cause mass confusion for your ridership. People making these decisions clearly do not ride these lines daily.
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tahan, this decision was made by experts in the field after many different options were considered, from an operating standpoint. This is the simplest way to integrate the extension into the pattern of SkyTrains currently that will be the best option for our customers. Thank you ^ac
@tahanmartins633
7 жыл бұрын
Thanks AC but I respectfully have to ask the same question - do these experts ride these lines daily to understand the changes they have suggested. 1) You are changing 16 years of habit and understanding that the region has grown use to. 2) The ridership between Lougheed - VCC/Clark has only grown. 3) You are adding a whole new level of ridership on this same stretch 4) Changing trains at Commercial/Broadway to head to Downtown is getting harder with the existing volume of people. No one I've talked to on SkyTrain who rides daily shares your experts decisions. Lastly may I ask why Translink wouldn't get the input of the people they are affecting the most, their riders?
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tahan: Thanks for the comments. I can tell you that the folks that plan our SkyTrain system do ride the system regularly, if not everyday. This video - kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqekprZvgdbMmtI.html may answer more of your questions. Ian, who's featured in the video, takes SkyTrain everyday and very invested in its success. I can also add that both the president of BCRTC and TransLink also regularly ride SkyTrain to and from work. We understand that changes like this can be difficult. Change like with Compass was also a big change for our customers. Six months into Compass and our riders have actually adapted to it very well. Rest assured we will have staff at all of our stations on and around October 22nd to help people with the change. I hope you have a great day and enjoy your SkyTrain commute in the future! ^rw

Hi there, there are two Expo Line trains going from Waterfront. One will terminate at King George, like always, the other will continue past Columbia to Production Way-University. The Millennium Line trains will travel from VCC-Clark to Lougheed starting October 22, then once Evergreen opens, they will continue to the terminus station of Lafarge Lake-Douglas and back again. Hi Richard, the pattern change has been researched and based on ridership numbers and train capacities to find the best possible pattern! This operating pattern actually increases the Millennium Line frequency and increases the size of trains on the Expo Line. I can't barely hear what the hell you announce over the loud static and screeching sounds of the wheels on the track. Ever heard of sound proofing?

Hi Marvin, the PA system sometimes doesn't have the best quality depending on the train. If you're unsure as to the announcement, you can always tweet @TransLink or call Customer Information at 604-953-3333 or, if stopped at a platform, ask an STA. Regular maintenance on SkyTrain rails and wheels are done to cut down on noise. If you are noticing a specific area has issues, please report it to Customer Relations: feedback.translink.ca/ Thank you ^ac

Only criticism is that the scale is of course very off, making the trains/tracks smaller and move slower would have been a better representation.

cool animation!
My first time on the Expo Line to Production Way University was 2017.
Come to langley already.
good to see coquitlam getting a skytrain wish they'd expand it further, light rail sounds okay but skytrain seems better/faster
the animation looks awesome
excellent work
The only question I have is how does the Expo line go only to production way? Does it turn into a Millennium line after that station or somehow turn around??

Trains can turn around at any station because the system is driverless
@TransLink

Yep! At most terminus stations of any rail/subway lines, train ends become beginnings. Meaning, there are controls or "driver" spots at both ends of the train. They simply switch the direction FRONT is and continue on the way! ^ac
IM VERY EXCITED FOR THE NEW TRANSIT

can you explain why buses always late and when they come they arrives as 3 one right after the other? are they on coffee break together or something?
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, buses can be bunched like that for a variety of reasons. Traffic, accidents, questions from passengers, time of day, etc. If you have a specific route that is consistently late, please let us know by filling out the feedback form so the incidents can be logged and investigated. You can do that here: feedback.translink.ca/ Thank you! ^ac

Will there be any visual indication whether a expo line train is heading to King George vs Production Way, similar to Canada Line's signs for YVR and Richmond-Brighouse?
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
^rw
The second expo line will go from waterfront to production way via New-west?
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ilan! There will be an Expo Line train that goes from Waterfront to King George Station - same as today, and yes, the other Expo Line SkyTrain will go from Waterfront to Production Way - University! The Millennium Line SkyTrain will go from VCC-Clark to Lafarge Lake - Douglas. Hope this helps! ^sk

Also, I have been waiting for this extension for so long, even if I don't benefit as much now as I did when this started. Ah well, at least Douglas College students will have an easier time with courses selection next year
Now going to braid station is gonna suck.... I always take the Millennium line from commercial to braid cuz its quicker than the expo/millennium way... now i have to get off at lougheed and transfer trains just for one stop 😕
@TransLink
Thanks! ^ac
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tahan, this decision was made by experts in the field after many different options were considered, from an operating standpoint. This is the simplest way to integrate the extension into the pattern of SkyTrains currently that will be the best option for our customers. Thank you ^ac
@tahanmartins633
@TransLink
^rw

Will the trains on the Millennium Line be running every 3 minutes instead of 6 like the Canada Line

What I understand is that the Millennium Line will have 3.5 minute frequencies, and the Expo Line will have 2 minute frequencies.

I don't understand the second Expo route. The second route will run along the existing Expo Line from Waterfront, to New West, then to Production Way? So no more transferring to the Millenium Line from New West?

Hi there, there are two Expo Line trains going from Waterfront. One will terminate at King George, like always, the other will continue past Columbia to Production Way-University. The Millennium Line trains will travel from VCC-Clark to Lougheed starting October 22, then once Evergreen opens, they will continue to the terminus station of Lafarge Lake-Douglas and back again. You could transfer to the M-Line at Lougheed or Production Way. I would choose the latter since it will be on the same platform and will save you time! Thanks :) ^ac

Hi Richard, the pattern change has been researched and based on ridership numbers and train capacities to find the best possible pattern! This operating pattern actually increases the Millennium Line frequency and increases the size of trains on the Expo Line. The changes will effect everyone differently but with increasing demand and limited resources, the new operating pattern will provide improved convenience for the majority of our customers. Thanks! ^ac

Also your Old Skytrains suck. You guys always attempt to send a message over your lousy PA system even though all we hear is just plain static and noise. That's right. Noise. I can't barely hear what the hell you announce over the loud static and screeching sounds of the wheels on the track. Ever heard of sound proofing?
@TransLink
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Marvin, the PA system sometimes doesn't have the best quality depending on the train. If you're unsure as to the announcement, you can always tweet @TransLink or call Customer Information at 604-953-3333 or, if stopped at a platform, ask an STA. Regular maintenance on SkyTrain rails and wheels are done to cut down on noise. If you are noticing a specific area has issues, please report it to Customer Relations: feedback.translink.ca/ Thank you ^ac
