I think what really helped me the most is the enhanced listen mode and auto pickup I did not know those settings even exist even though I already played the PS4 Pro version I also hate film grain it's the worst feature in history of video games it makes no sense to me why do they continue to use it when 95% of gamers do not use it? So in every game I completely turn off film grain which makes the graphics look super clear I also set the motion blur at 5 I never max out the motion blur just hurts my eyes as long as it's in the middle I'm okay with it the Fidelity mode is incredible on PS5 the graphics just looks way too real 😍 but thanks for helping us out 😁👍

I love enhanced listen mode and auto pickup a lot, but all other picks are worth considering also a lot. Did not change Dual Sense settings though. Thanks a lot for sharing and thrilling gaming to you all.

Regarding Number 14, if you turn the intensity up to 10 and put the controller up to your ear, it literally vibrates at the same frequencies that the characters are talking in. You can literally hear the dialogue from the haptic vibration. Wild.

Yeah it is truly impressive! I find 10 is too excessive for when you are trying to enjoy the story, but I think 5 provides the good subtle effect of it without being overpowering. Absolutely worth putting on 10 just to hear it in action though like you say. 🔥 Thanks for watching!

That's what haptics SHOULD do to be fair, the first time I noticed it was on Rift Apart in one of the early areas, there's a club with music blaring out, the bass is directly replicated in the haptics.

Man they kinda messed up this feature, im playing part 1 and 2 at the same time and part 1 dialogue vibrations seen way more realistic on the controller, play both at the same time and you will see

fidelity mode with unlocked framerate with VRR is the way to go. performance mode annihilates the resolution.

Enhanced listen mode is huge. Extremely helpful so you don't miss a thing. You could run around forever thinking you got everything and still miss stuff. It's awesome to help with the platinum trophy to make sure you get the max parts and supplements in each area as well as the artifacts and cards.

My favourite settings that they added to Part II and the Remake Part I is the customizable difficulty. I like being able to for example set Allies to "Very Easy" so they actually do stuff in combat and really feel like a partner, being able to set Enemies and Stealth to "Grounded" so NPC AI behave as realistically as possible, setting Resources to "Grounded" to really get that scavenger feel and setting Player to like "Hard" so that while the game is punishing I can get a chance to escape an encounter gone bad since I take less damage. Accessibility isn't just something you do for disabled people, it's so every player can optimize the experience to maximize their enjoyment and Naughty Dog does so much to make sure everyone can play their games and play them the way they want to.

Absolutely an awesome video. I abhor motion blur. To me it doesn't add anything to a game really. And thank you for the auto pickup option. That is so annoying to pick up stuff when you are in the heat of battle. This makes this soooo much easier.

I can understand that! That one is definitely a personal preference thing but for me, I like it to feel more like I can be immersed as though I'm in the world, rather than if I'm looking at it through a lens if you know what I mean :)

@@Octorious that makes sense, I love every lens effect they add in games. Flares, lens dirt, water drops, grain and bloom. It fits in for these games as they are very movie like, not sure it would work for first person games though

these are some great recommendations, however for some reason upon restarting the game most settings reset and I have to reapply them. Anyone else experience this?

I ignored all of this because of the trophy transfer function😂Not really in a hurry to do another run after recently grinding through original game's grounded mode for that last damn trophy. Maybe another day when I'm in the mood to do it again I'd definitely utilize these

This is great. Enhanced listening mode is a game changer. i'm finding the settings messing up if you go between No Return and Story. Losing the auto pick up was/is one of them, another oddity is in No Return when throwing something (molotov, etc) or laying it down (trap bomb) the character and entire screen blurred out when arcing. I'm sure it was one of the play mode settings in No Return that did that. Only way to fix it was a restart. I do not like the filters/modes added in No Return (Blood red, Film Noir etc). it's not natural and you get no time to adjust. These should be able to be switched off.

enhanced listen mode is GREAT for collecting all the collectibles as i found that tedious when going for part 1's platinum, and I agree about not using it to spot enemies 👍

Why I changed to these settings go back to menu go to no return exit no return just for my old settings to replace the ones I just changed TF is going on??

I've tried speech vibration, not sure about it at the moment but may go back to it.

Thank you. And frankly I couldn't care less about whether or not a setting might affect the game's realism. This is still a video game. I'd rather be less frustrated and anxious when playing then care about minute details like the character switching to the best weapon without thinking about it. The only question I have is that if you turn on some of these accessibility features in No Return, does that limit or even turn off the rewards that you could earn with the challenges?

Does this game support mouse and keyboard ?

I just downladed the game yesterday and when i pick up items, the game lags, and its something trange cuz it only lags when i pick up items and open the inventory, do someone knows why this happen?

A word of warning against just turning on VRR because you can. I bought a Sony Bravia X90H (or XH90 in Europe, my specific one is KD-XH9299) along with my PS5 in March 2020 because both promised to deliver VRR and 4k / 120 Hz via firmware updates later on. And indeed they did, but on this LCD Sony 2020 series it sacrifices other features for it. If VRR is enabled it disables Local Dimming, resulting in a washed-out and grey image because of the light bleeding. Unlike OLED where each Pixel can be turned off completely to produce rich black levels, FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) can only dimm certain zones. "dimming" is not "turning off", so there's always some level of light bleeding to the surrounding zones, even when the feature works properly, although on the highest setting still produces very high contrast images and deep enough blacks. But as I said, if VRR is turned on, this model line shuts off the dimming feature completely because the processor can't handle both. So no dimming equals full-on light bleed. And it also means this cannot be fixed via further firmware updates. Also this model series does not provide full 4K horizontal resolution at 120Hz. Instead of 3840x2160 it produces 3840x1080 only, then upscales and applies a sharpening filter. Consensus is that for consoles it's fine and hardly noticeable, but some people complain about a somewhat blurry image. I myself haven't run any 4K / 120Hz games, so wouldn't know. But it probably still applies to the newer PS5 40FPS Fidelity modes that run in a 120Hz container, as I think also the Fidelity mode in TLOU2 Remastered does when you select Unlocked Framerate. See Oliver's Digital Foundry video about this games render modes. About the VRR shutting Local Dimming off, there's a Digital Foundry episode where John explicitly mentions this. It's the video about when the PS5 VRR feature was first introduced. I read all Saturday about this because with TLOU2 Remastered I thought I'd check out again if my TV is able to use VRR now, but sadly not. I turned it off again and adjusted all the HDR and brightness and contrast settings the whole day, because I had never done this properly before. The picture quality is amazing now and performance mode with locked framerate is absolutely fine. The Sony LCD models from 2021 on with the XR processor did get another firmware update in the meantime that fixed these issues, though. Hope this helps someone. When in doubt watch the Digital Foundry PS5 VRR video (with John and Alex) and google VRR local dimming with your TV model number or look through any firmware update notes for it if this was ever an issue snd/or has been fixed. Edit: Also majorly important, to disable VRR, I need to disable it on the TV! not only on the PS5 or in-game settings. For this I have to select the correct HDMI format for the HDMI port that the PS5 is connected to. For me this is "Enhanced format", WITHOUT Dolby Vision or VRR. Even you turn VRR on here but off in the PS5 settings, the TV switches into its VRR mode which, again, means disabling local dimming completely.

This is a really interesting read! I do remember John mentioning this, and tbh, I'd completely forgot. I can't tell a visual difference in the slightest when turned on for the CX, but having researched it as you suggested, some do suggest it also has the issue. If ours has it, that surprises me because I'm EXTREMELY fussy about visual fidelity and can normally see any minor change 😅 Very glad you've pointed this out though, thank you! It defo sounds like a bit of an issue for those Sony TVs without that firmware update :/ I hope some of the video could help you out too :)

Happy to help! I have mine mapped to circle on LB and square on RB. I've found this works pretty well, but I think maybe mapping down on the dpad to one could be good too so you have very easy access to throwables and molotovs. Basically, I haven't decided what's best myself yet haha but I hope this can be helpful in some way!

I would suggest not using square as a back button. After pressing square you either got to wait for a reloading animation or a melee animation, so it's fine to have your thumb off the thumbstick for a bit anyways. My left is mapped to up on the d-pad for quick access when I need a med kit in an emergency and my right is mapped to circle for quick access to prone/crouching.

@@eden20111 it doesn't actually make it more accurate, it just makes it more clear where the center is. The bullet can still go anywhere within the aiming circle, even if it's not on your screen

Good tip! I really almost included this one but decided against it as I think seeing the actual zone that bullets can spread in is really useful, arguably more so than the refined crosshair but personal preference! :)

Yeah there are a few of them you might want to leave out for the hardest experience, but there are still plenty in this that you should still change that don't have an affect on difficulty, but more the visual fidelity and overall feel of the game :)

My two biggest setting changes are swapping L1, R1 and L2, R2. This makes aiming and firing more responsive. The second setting is the simple reticle, it’s just personal preference but try it out

I just wann know why when I move right stick to aim I have to move it right to aim left and move left to aim right how do I change THAT😭😭

Not sure where it is but if you turn on the red and blue lights when you swipe left it will make all collectibles very visible and easy to find.

With VRR & 120HZ enabled, you'll get 40-50 fps in fidelity mode so if you are just playing through the story for the first time, I'd maybe recommend that so everything looks super crisp. However, if you want it to feel as smooth as possible, go for performance which will get you 80-100fps. The only noticeable difference between the 2 modes graphically is that fideltiy is full 4K, whilst performance is 1440p, so choose what's personally most important to you. I hope this helps!

@@Octorious thank you i appreciate this a lot, i had to upgrade my tv i kept throwing up how bad the screen tearing is on console now when im on my pc 1440p everything maxed I can get 110-160fps no screen tearing. Playing on consoles does make me sick due to that. When I tried performance mode was super smooth, when I did 4k mode it felt slow not super slow but slow if that makes sense but the graphics are so beautiful. I think no return is good for performance and single player graphics mode. What do you think? I wish 4k mode would get 60 fps.

I am using lg c3 with 120 VRR, but I noticed that the graphics are not that good with God Of War Ragnarok... SO i stayed on 60 fps mode.. I don't know if it the same for LOU part 2 though..

With GOWR, there were visual cutbacks when using the performance mode at higher framerates. However, Digital Foundry confirmed they couldnt find any visual differences between performance at 60fps and performance with the framerate unlocked, so might as well unlock it unless your TV has the VRR local dimming issue :)

I always make resources easier to find. You miss out on the amazing combat when playing on higher difficulties due to the lack of them. Kind of feel more stuff would just be laying around given the state of the world.

I kind of feel the same, but then you realise that Ellie isn't the only one scavenging everywhere so it makes sense on grounded when you can hardly find anything; especially ammo

Accessibility, motion sickness, persistent centre dot. This really helps aiming especially in cover.

Does enable the high framerate mode reduce the resolution in performance mode ? Nice video 🎉

Thank you! According to Digital Foundry's tech analysis, unlocking the framerate has no visual changes that they could find, so there's absolutely no reason not to turn it on :)

What do you use for dualsense edge settings for this game?

I have everything on default for the deadzones etc (I haven't had the chance to properly figure out what's best there), but have RB set to square and LB set to circle. Having quick access to both melee attacks and crouch/prone is super useful IMO. What about yourself?

I have the RB set to X so i can vault quickly and the LB set to Square to have quick melee And Right stick sensitivity curve set to precise curve adjustment (-2) to have a more precise aim And ingame controls i switched R3 to crouch and circle for flashlight. Thanks for the video really helped me a lot with the display and accessibility settings)

Have you noticed that the Dualsense BOW RESISTANCE doesn’t unlock? It reads, “To modify this setting enable adaptive triggers”. But I have Adaptive Triggers enabled already! Bow Resistance doesn’t work :(

Yes I have. I noticed it when I was gathering some of the footage for the video. HOWEVER, it's simply a glitch in the menu itself. Regardless of whether it says on or off there, bow resistance will be forced to on if your adaptive triggers are turned on or on fire only :)

@@Octorious I wish I could test it out now but I’m not home. However, people on Reddit right now are still saying there’s no bow resistance. They’re confirming it’s NOT working. That you can visually turn it on from settings in the main menu, BUT you can’t visually turn it on from settings in the pause menu. Odd.

My tv 100% supports vrr and 120hz but the option is locked for me. The ps5 is set up to use all of that stuff and my tv has it all turned on as well. Any thoughts on why it's happening?

Are you changing the settings mid-cutscene? That could cause issues. If you haven't yet, a simple restart of the game, ps5 and tv could fix it.

@Octorious im literally at the main menu, it just does not want to work. I've reset everything too, so weird.

Hopefully with the PS5 Pro we won't have the problem of having to switch between fidelity mode and performance mode! but you have stable 4k and 60fps+ at fidelity. Performance mode Sucks.....😅

agree, gyro aim is future for aiming. playing with MnK is so limited, you can only do precise aiming but not how fluid your character move. while gamepad have more fluid in char movement but the bad side is hard to aim precisely. with gyro aim now player can do fluid character movement with microaiming for precise aiming without neglecting the comfortness currently goood gyro aim exist in : gow ragnarok, forbiden west, and tlou. i hope game like Remnant 2 have gyro aim as future updates. there are also great game implements bad gyro such as Re4R.

I need help! I have a 120hz monitor Asus, in fidelity mode the option is unlocked (50 fps) BUT in Performance mode is locked wtf
