Just wanted to say thanks for the content! My favorite part of the videos you make is that you maintain a pretty positive attitude even when things don't break your way. Lots of content creators have figured out how to make good content when they're high rolling and showing off how sick their deck is when everything hums together, but I enjoy watching you even when your draw just doesn't line up and you never really stand a chance in the game. Love the videos!

I think the play on that Brainstorm in round one was put back Ponder and Ending, play Depths, play Diamond discarding Karakas, make a treasure, attack with both lethal constructs to force the double chump. On their turn, you have the mana to make Marit Lage midcombat. However, once you have the legendary creature in play you also have the mana to channel Eiganjo without sacrificing the treasure. This leaves you dead only to something like cantrip into lightning bolt.

I also found this. The big mistake was keeping and discarding Eiganjo: it seems like he missed the fact that he'll have to discard a land to Diamond anyways so he has to keep a land he doesn't want in the future (Karakas is the one that has no text in this scenario while Eiganjo is a very important spell). Forcing the Mentor chump would've also worked with what happened in this game since that would've lead to two fewer Monks and a rather easy victory (what with one life). I think he navigated the Brainstorm perfectly to lose the game in a situation where losing was very hard.

I love Standstill but I don't see why people put it in the same deck as Yorion. If you're a dedicated Standstill deck, then I think you want to have 60 cards so that you can Standstill on turn 2 more reliably. I think Yorion in Standstill decks is just an excuse to put every sweet card into the deck you want and not have to make painful cuts. This deck already has so many late-game engines (Loam + Field of the Dead + Dark Depths, Urza's Saga + Elvish Reclaimer, Currency Converter, Uro, Hall of Heliod, plus the card advantage of Standstill and Dragon and SharkShark) that it doesn't seem like you also need Yorion to win late-game grinds. I'd rather just have the consistency of having a 20 card lighter deck and having a higher concentration of Brainstorms and Swords to Plowshares etc.

I love that this deck while resolving spells is the thing in magic that wins games most of the time, the fact that most of your triggers can’t be force’d makes this one of my favorite decks ever.

I make that happen regularly on the channel and IRL.

Matches like M4G2 (around 1:31 or so) are why I like having a Ghost Quarter in decks like this. I know it might be Win-More sometimes, but it's an effective shut off valve against decks like 8 Cast and Karn Echoes that can easily hit 3 mana again from cards like LED and Petals. As soon as you clear everything with Wastelands and Boseiju, hitting with a GQ shuts them out of the game FAST.

That title just kept going huh

On the brainstorm i might have put back two lands, play mox diamond and ponder for either swords or prismatic ending to kill both tokens with lethal attackers.

Deafening Silence is non-creature. It doesn’t do enough against them while slowing down your interaction and card selection

In the first game of round 1, was casting Ending on the Mentor a consideration? Given it's the biggest of the prowess creatures and the source of all the smaller monks? Or would it have taken too much mana?

In round 2 game 2, at about 52:50 do you think Boseiju-ing their last land is ever a good play? Most Delver lists don't play basic islands so it's essentially green sinkhole a good portion of the time. Edit: nevermind I simply forgot how boseiju works

I fully agree he should have. With that 3 damage and the 2 missed damage from the currency converter, either the enemy would have been dead or he would have needed to chump. I suspect that he was just in the default "I'm control, he's the beatdown" mindset and missed that this was actually a good moment to start attacking the enemy. Part of the reason why Jon Finkel was so legendary was that he a master at flipping the switch and relentlessly start attacking at the right time, even with control decks.

I was worried about them getting delirium and taking me out in 6 point chunks. Endurance makes them slow down or find a removal spell. I agree in retrospect the way the race played out I should have just attacked, but that was my thought at the time.

Is this deck based heavily, or heavily based?

As a long time viewer I know that standstill is a pet card of yours. Lately I've been listening to LAL's old episode, I heard talk of old tech in myth realized but I've never seen it on your channel. Is that because there are just better options now in currency converter or Retrofitter foundry

I'm not sure that banning delver would be a good idea, because with as big of a card pool as Legacy, there's always going to be some powerful proactive decks floating around. And I'd rather have those decks try to attack for 2-3 damage instead of trying to combo-kill me. But if I had to weaken Delver, I'd consider banning all fetchlands. They just make graveyard strategies (including delve cards) and Brainstorm too powerful. Plus IRL they slow down games and give people opportunities to cheat.
