Change Chaincase Oil - 1996, 1997 Polaris Snowmobile

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I show how to change the chaincase oil in my two mid-90’s Polaris snowmobiles. It’s a very easy job. The black sled is a 1996 Polaris Indy Sport Touring. The blue sled is a 1997 Polaris Indy Lite Touring.

Hi Eric- thanks for the kind comment! I’m no MVP though. I have my share of epic fails! Just ask my wife and kids!

Just got me a xcr 600 as my first sled. Dirt biker since I was 6 so I’m hoping I can bring this thing back to life and have something to pull my ice fishing gear. Thanks for the video!

Hi Jacob- glad to hear it helped! I just sold off my 96, but I’m keeping our 1997 Indy Lite. Not fast, but easy and reliable for kids! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. I just bought a 1995 Trail Lite and am checking it out. So, about how many ounces of oil go in that chain case?

Not sure about that. Maybe try a small wire in the drain to clear out any obstruction.

You're probably confusing it with the 2-cycle oil reservoir... because you can't see if all the oil is drained out of the crank case unless you take off the crank case cover... is which case all the oil would drain out without the cover.

Use a torx T30 or T40 3/8 socket, pound it in the stripped hole, you'll get it that way
