Inspired! Karl Lagerfeld was a fashion icon! Chanel’s unequally style and panache are truly on display. Elegant and chic.. Not many designers can say that now.. Perhaps,Saint Laurent and Ralph Lauren could equal the Chanel style!

@@jimmies327 it's my theory, one can't say it wasn't inspired by her, also at the time she and Karl got close again, I'd say the the 4 next season's where inspired by her also

These songs have haunted me throughout my life. I have Made a sigle bit of them my own. Every loss, every Victory in life. Karl has been a mentor and a revelation to me. I mourned his depart and kept his inspiration talked to me ever since. He's touched me in so diferent ways Artistrily. Bravo maestro!

Im trying to understand fashion and runways. Is the collection actually sold? If so and no offense, but ive never seen anyone wear this stuff in public. What exactly is this for? What is the.purpose of putting such outlandish clothes that most never wear? Is it only promotional. Like a simple demonstration of what the designer's taste is? I need this answered!

it's haute couture, which means, only a few lucky (and filthy rich) women can afford it. The dresses are all custom-made, that is, one per client and all fitted to their bodies... thus what you see in the runway is never really what the customers take home once they make their appointment with the maison and get to try the outfits. Sometimes it's not even a question of money: I once heard Daphne Guiness saying that the day she sees Chanel HC onto a movie star, she would stop buying Chanel immediately. It's not even for celebrities... (one single Chanel haute couture dress can cost up to €100000... )

like anibalsagenev said haute couture is not for commercial reasons. Its rather a statement of luxury. The clothes are entirely handmade( this obviously means not only sewn but hand tailored, embroidered as well) so it easily jumps over 6 figures. And there are only 200 women who have the means to purchase these pieces. And when they wear these on a society gala or a party, the dress gets up on vogue, vanity fair, page six and suddenly its an ad. Thats why designers also send dresses to celebs as well.

It's obviously not for everybody. Haute couture is very expensive because of the quality of material and workmanship involved, so therefore only very few people can afford it. However the ideas from the couture shows are incorporated in the designer's ready-to-wear lines and to sell accessories.

You have Haute Couture collections and Pret-A-Porter/Ready to Wear collections. Major difference between them is the pricetag. The cheapest Haute Couture item I've seen in my life costed 10.000 euro. So only the filthy rich (trophy)women are the ones who can afford custom made/fitted Haute Couture. And there are some rich women who collect Haute Couture, and very often Haute Couture is used/borrowed out for major red carpet events. The other collections is what you see in boutiques worldwide. While as. and don't pin me down on this, the Haute Couture collection is only sold in Paris.
