OMG! I'm sorry it took me so long to finally see this! First off, the bag is gorgeous and I would have purchased it too in a heart beat! As for the grommet, I had the same thing happen to me with a Provenza Schouler PS1. One of the grommets on the side for the long strap came off. It's actually super easy to fix, you just have to figure out what kind of grommet it is. The easiest thing to do would be to find the backing of the grommet between the leather and the fabric, which is easy. Just feel around the bottom and sides of the bag in the inside for the metal piece. It might take a few minutes of searching or you could find it really easily. Then just shimmy it up to where it was originally and orient it so that the backing that connects to the grommet pops out. Then you can see if you can screw it in, or sometimes you just need to hammer it back in place (which is what I had to do with the proenza. Once you figure that out you can screw the grommet back on or hammer it back on. If you hammer it use a rubber mallet and place something on top and under the bag, but you'll have to find something to place inside the bag so that there's only a layer of the fabric and the leather if that makes sense... I'll try and explain it better if that's the type of fix you need. But it should be fairly straight forward and not too difficult.

Okay, honestly, when I was watching your video and you were like, oh the chain is missing I was like, ew, no wonder because the chain is kind of heinous and if I got came across that bag and found that out, I would actually kind of be happy that I wouldn't have to be the one to deface Chanel by removing it, lol, but honestly, it'll probably just annoy you and get caught on things. I say just leave the strap as is :-D

I know this sounds crazy but go to a store that fixes boots and shoes. or a leather store that makes belts and stuff. . not sure the name of them these days but I have one in my local farmers market and they fixed one of my bags for me. they didn't have to open my lining. I mean it's worth a shot ..

I sold most my Chanel collection on eBay and got literally nothing for them and although they were around 10 years old they were as new as I never used them so I got mega ripped off selling mine on eBay people just watched my items for AGES and never bought even though I had them MEGA cheap! And they hounded me with stupid offers and I ended up selling at that silly prices! I'm absolutely gutted now looking back. So yeah I would keep!!! X

I know I’m a little late but this is an amazingly beautiful bag!! Leather surgeons is a specialist in repairing Chanel bags (Chanel sends their repairs to them) they’ll give you a quote and I r heard are extremely nice and do incredible work to increase the value of your bag.

take it to Chanel and say it's was a gift and can they repair it. Or take it to a very reputable cobbler. and I'm sure they can fix it for you at half the price of what Chanel would charge you.

Hell yah I would have bought it! I would fix that myself..feel around carefully for the on the inside to find the backing. I’m sure you are right about the backing being inside the lining. Try feeling the backing of the ones that are in place to get an idea of the shape and size it would be. I would then find the most hidden spot where the lining attaches and open it to fish it out. See if a magnet will move it to the opening. Blind stitch it back together or use fabric glue depending on how the lining is attached Very carefully. If you can’t find the backing go to a hardware store or Michael’s or go on line to find a screw back stud that will fit., ie., look at amazon.ca for something like this....”Scloky assorted screws kit Nail rivet Chicago button for DIY leather decoration”. There are a few brands. Use and measure the front half for the diameter you need (or get a friend with the right tool to measure it). It doesn’t have to be an original part as it won’t. You could go to a cobbler that fixes purses to buy the piece too I imagine. Anyhow, take a good look at the bag and the screw to see if you think you can manage that or have a friend that could do it meticulously. I’m not sure I would trust a cobbler as they may not be as careful with something that delicate. Good luck, good score!

Geez, thrifting in my city is miserable! They look up every single thing. Most of the stores are managed by Ebayers. There are ZERO high in bags or anything. The most you'll find is Guess, Donna Karan, and Ralph Lauren. the equivalent of the stuff you'll find at Ross or Marshalls. If you do find anything it's a replica for about $80-$100 bucks. You're so lucky :-)!

Yes a shoe repair shop can fix it ! Some shops will even dye it!

take it to a shoe repair shop they should be able to fix it for you..

You can use www.leathersurgeons.com/ to fix it. A reputable consignment place Opulent Habits told me about them and I confirmed the owner used to work in Chanel with an SA I bought from before on 57th NYC, anyway she told me they don't fix bags in house but they send to leather surgeon. Or you can bring to a reputable shoe repair shop that works with leather and bags to try to fix it. It's a really nice bag, looks good on you and suits you. I like the fact that it is not too feminine but more an everyday bag. It looked well made and sturdy. You wanted a Chanel and you got one girl! Anyone would die for it at that price, leather too. Congrats!!! XO
