Here in Queensland, we have a unicameral Parliament, and as soon as the Opposition displaces the incumbent party, a big shake-up of the electoral boundaries (read 'gerrymander') happens, and the new Government settles in for ten or more years, until incompetence and corruption is so obvious that the gerrymander can't protect their position. This is thanks to an opportunistic move by the Labour Party in 1922 to 'save money' by deleting the Upper House.

The Conservatives are done Sir Charles, whether you like it or not. If there was an election now or in a couple of years it won’t make any difference. The bigger issue is even if we had an election, are people naive enough to think that Labour would do a better job and make all these problems go away. There is a finite pot of money to run the country and whoever is responsible has to carefully look at using it fairly and responsibly on those that contribute now and have in the past. The government vanity projects, foreign aid and money that is currently squandered needlessly has to be stopped. Hunt talking about being tough is fair enough but only if it applies to everyone equally which it never does.

Humiliation writ large but now it seems support for fuel costs is finishing in April at which point millions of people will find themselves abandoned to their fate.

Robert Owen, a wise Scot, revolutionised his New Lanark Mill, by treating his workers with respect. To his critics he said that unless we treated workers with respect and fairness, there would be a revolution. Perhaps our MPs should study a little history - starting with the Industrial Revoution and the history of the industries of the Railways, the Mines and the Textiles. Unless they begin to recognise that this country is quickly sliding back into the divide between the rich and the poor, as in Victorian times, they will inevitably face a revolt by the general public. Already, there is an increase in theft of food, as many are facing hunger. Food Banks are experiencing huge demands for help, and not from scoungers. ( I work in one, so I know). The Tories must face the fact that their policies of 12 years have brought this country to its knees - the result? Need of the poor from the greed of the rich! Unless there is radical change, there will be rebellion. Truss and her Party have a lot to answer for!!

The PM came to the sacred political ground of parliament and leaves without speaking anything, this determines she is not fit for the job. Let it be the continues of the conservatives or the change of govt with labor party but a nation needs a prime minister to respond instead of being a dummy.

I do not trust Hunt a single bit after his tenure as health minister among others. Opportunist on high gear mode.

So what is she doing now? She’s stuffed up now she’s got nothing. I can do nothing and pick up her paycheque for 2 years

It's not about the the Tories vs the Labour Party. It's about the people of the UK who the Tories took for granted and did not look after who they now have lost lock, stock and barrel and yet they still remain blind to the elephant in the room.

And what's worse, it was obvious to see. You can't have a pm running in the opposite direction to the bank of England. She wants to stimulate the economy and the bank of England were putting up interest rates to quell demand and stop inflation. What a joke this government is.

So odd to see British politicians say dodgy Americanisms like "Plead the Fifth."

Easier than saying ‘I invoke the privilege against self-incrimination’ I guess.

So our energy bills will be going to be over 1000 a quarter. That's a huge chunk of money for those who can only get a part time job in a supermarket. Even if you work full time on 40 hours a week on minimum wage you will have to pay around 4 weeks of your wages a quarter just to pay your energy bill. All while the energy companies make record profits and will continue to hike up the prices as the year goes on because nobody in government is going to stop them from doing so. Peace

Simple plan, tax the oil and gas companies heavy and the rich class in our society, scrap the bonuses for bankers and nationalise everything vital, and only give benefits to who needs it unlike the rich and high earners

IKR. They act like there is no solution chatting about difficult decision yet the difficult decision are ONLY to the disadvantage of ‘normal’ ppl! I don’t get it there are obvious solutions to this mess so make the super rich bleed (trickle down) for a year or two until worse is over. I also don’t get why labour doesn’t come up with these suggestions. Or they’re afraid if super rich and not to. E voted for?! But majority who votes is the ‘normal’ ppl ….it’s above my comprehension !

They do this because they are afraid that if Labour get in power they will waste all their precious tax contributions (which they endlessly scheme at not paying anyway) on swanky free hostels for black lesbian one-legged illegal-traveling Marxist freeloading benefit layabouts in Peckham. Undoing something after it has caused damage isn’t fixing anything, it’s plugging the hole she made in the dam, after gallons of interest rates has leaked out. She has to go just to give the impression someone with a plan is in charge.

Energy companies absolutely have to be told in no uncertain terms to stop with the crazy prices,bring them down Or face being walloped with massive tax demands from them

The West put a price cap on russian oil but can't do that for other energy providers. effectively letting their citizens pick up the blank cheque and going for broke.

Telling does not work. A lack of national strategic gas storage in the UK (see how "Rough" gas storage was allowed, over time, to pass to centrica and then close, it's a bent system) and a blind conservative belief that "the markets" are efficient (they are not) and not, corrupt, that is the underlying problem, got to change the systems, imo, as far as utilities go. "The markets" oooh they love a good war don't they and their unlimited bonuses, yuck, (global crash was only in 2008 fuelled by lying, greed, weak regulation, conflicts of interest. We can vote in people who will change these demonstrably failed ideologies and beliefs. Hopefully.

Or nationalise them, who wants to shop for energy, just give me the lowest price, this was Tony Blairs government that did this.
