Nice ploy, but with team's with less money there is a problem. I have offered a certain wage and then by the time the player signs the high signing fee means that the board have now reduced the maximum wage. Meaning that the player will not sign a new contract as you can't now match your original wage offer and you're stuck with an expensive player on a rolling contract...

I knew this for bosmans, but never risked it for out and out buys, as it is quite frequent you end up losing them, I would say 1 in 5 players would leave. I ended up with Ronaldo (R9), Ibrahimovic and Kaka at Flamengo in Brazil

If you are playing the original game you are still going to have to offer them new contracts after two years beacuse they aren't protected. If you are using one of the patches that disables protected contracts forget what I just wrote :-)

I always thought it's impossible to sign a player if he's got no interest in negotiating terms. Can't believe I never figured out these things and I was playing the game for over 10 years

Smooth Operator other way exists

You got something like 100k a month in interest per 40 million you have in the bank. So this would be a really good way to offset the monthly payments you gotta pay the club

Puyol would have accepted without doing that trick. Even though he says he has no interest in negotiating terms, when the weakly wage that appears is less than the maximum your board can offer, players ALWAYS accept the deal. But only when it says "The player has no interest in negotiating terms". Try it!
