Nice job guys and a top shot, i think the second was not nesecery but to be on the safe side it was a good decision, never let the animal suffer.

Thanks. Thanks In this vid I am using a 300wsm . 195gn ELD-m pushed at 2800. What you didn’t get to see is the huge damage it caused. The skin was actually ruined unfortunately due to it striking bone high in the shoulder and totally blowing it to bits. An amazing amount of damage for reliable killing at long range , however too much of a good thing at times on light game. I like to hit bone with a calibre this large as it instantly delivers massive shock, but at this distance when velocity is still high, a behind the shoulder shot would have still done the job with less damage. Of course usually the more damage the better at long range.

@@baywarra I have used the eldx with good success. I was thinking of going back to them for a more general hunting load. I was pushing the Berger 190s at 3050 and having awesome success but they are way to expensive now ha. What velocity do you get from the WM ?

@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting I think around 2700 but I was keeping the powder load low. I got some mad accuracy . Bought a labradar to play with. Things will get better.

@@baywarra nice 👍. Accuracy and velocity spread are the main things to get right . You can always dial more if it’s a mild load.

Thanks. He was a little tricky to age actually. Looks to be between 9-10 years on the horns. Teeth were well worn and he was in very light condition. Don’t think he had too many winters left. I got his official score card back today. Bang on 10” on both sides. 3 4/8” and 3 5/8” . Total score 27

@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting he also looks as he was getting gray around the eyes, typical of old chamois. Do you have CIC score of that buck? I'm courious because I think NZ chamois often appear smaller on vid or picture but just because they're bigger in size. Congrats on your trophy!

@@ivanbettinapiazza no unfortunately I don’t but I’m curious now too. I’ll do some looking into it. I’ll ask the taxidermists about his estimate on age too. There is potential he’s older. Your right he was quite Grey and the coat was quite dull. This was also worse because of the time of year though.
