The best part of custom painting is experimenting with pearls , flakes , and candy powders. You can also mix regular pearl , or ice pearls into a solid color base and give it a pearl effect. I did it with a jet black base , and it came out a silky looking black with a whole lot of pop in the sunlight.

Yea man this shit is actually fun, I did custom work in the past but it was all calculated and measured and had to be done right for an entire vehicle that a customer is paying for. But to actually play around with different combinations and no there's no real consequences if you screw it up actually makes it even more fun. I'm just hoping I don't find a color that I really like cuz then it's going to make me want to paint my car over again 😁🤷🏽‍♂️

Yeah I run into that all the time. A customer would come by for a quote on a complete paint job, and see one of my experimental panels, and then want that color. The problem is I didn’t right down the recipe for it 😂😂 I had to start doing that because it happens all the time now. Another fun thing about it is that you get to name the color whatever you want to name it because it’s your creation.

Fun stuff! Wish I had more time to do custom colors. Did a couple chameleon paint jobs last year. Did a motorcycle tank and fairing kit this year.Red Ghost pearls over white base for a customer. Came out pretty cool

done TONS of this......Back in the 80s. We used lacquer back then....But with basecoats we use intercoat clear to put the pearl or flake on there. Then build it with more intercoat clear without the flake Then sand it smooth. Then put the urethane clear over that. Also shoot color (candy) over that. it will look totally different. you can use silver flake to make any color. by shooting color over it.

I missed the laquer era but I did shoot lots of House of Kolors candy over metal flake in the late 90's talk about some beautiful stuff 😍🥳

@@PaintsByTrigger I haven’t seen to maybe colors like that get sprayed. Only guy I see on KZread doing it is true grit customs. Paints in what looked like a shed but he lays it down. Looks crazy in the end.

YESSSIRRR!!! I'm really digging the second channel. I also love the video effects 😂. I can't wait for your next videos. Question: could you add in your future videos the process of getting the vehicle done, such as before yall start working on it, the scratches and dents, the process of working on it, the headaches that yall go through, a little bit of silliness (to show that it's not all work and no play), a little bit of masking, paint prep before you start spraying? You did that once on the other channel, but it was very brief. It doesn't have to be long, just showing us the process from start to finish, but the back story doesn't have to be long (unless you don't care). The longer, the better (that's what she said 😂). Also, at the end of the video, treat us (and yourself) with a workout session. You played with the idea once, but that was a while back. Just some thoughts and ideas on what I would like to see in future videos.

But actually is my plan for this channel. But you got to keep in mind I'm in the spray booth all day while the prepper is sanding priming and masking so I would actually have to leave a car sitting in the booth to go out and film her working while I'm painting, same thing for the body man He's out there doing body work while I'm in the spray booth painting so I would have to leave a car that needs to be painted while I'm filming them work so it's a little bit difficult for me but I do plan to add more of that into this channel it may not be the full extent of the repair but I definitely plan to add more than what's on my other channel Thank you for the suggestion and I'll try to throw a quick workout in as well. That was a real good suggestion 😂😎💪🏼

Doing those powder pearl kameleons are easier with a base coat binder.. in the clear makes it a little harder.

Very nice Trigger, I really like the one over the black base as the colours pop nice but over the white base it's not very nice as it looks blotchy on the face but the flop isn't quite so bad, enjoying the channel brother🤓👍John UK

Getting one car prepped to spray an emerald pearl over black. Sprayed a silver pearl over Shadow grey last week, it made it too light. Doh! Wet sanded, waiting for black pearl to show up to darking it up.

I remember when Master P had that 96 SS Impala that was chameleon and had all white interior! 🔥 Is it true that it can never be matched again if there needs to be a repair? I heard that years ago when ehbody was doing chameleon paint. Never knew it was in the clear

The once I've done in the past you would just paint the entire side, the pigment will do the work, so I've never seen one mis match

@@PaintsByTrigger 800j was all over the place I’ve seen pink and blue. Have you tried the didspade pearls? I think that’s what true gritt uses. Those are the most intense pearls I’ve come across.

Some of the shift colors that I have seen have me wondering what it would look like with a silver base sense the white seams the bleach the color out instead of making it brighter

@@PaintsByTrigger i have seen a blue pearl over silver and it made it brighter I used the boosted blue pearl from Eastwood and with a three coat cover it came out close to the same color as the blue on Paul Walker(rip) skyline from 2fast so I was wondering if it would have that same effect with a shift I'm a fan of the blue either the blue green or the purple blue

You need to use Iridescent colour shirt over white.

I did that in 2002 had a shop painting all of those old rust buckets candy fades , and let me tell you.. I don't miss it 🤣🤣 I sleep great at night. I'm home by 4:15 every day. Hellz to the knawl knawl 😭
