Do you have an explanation why Israelis write crochet and knitting using the same words? I tried looking for knitting videos in Hebrew and had to wade through a lot of crochet ones.

@@screamtoasigh9984 I'm not an expert to this subject though what I found is Knitting- סריגה Crochet- סריגה במסרגה אחת So there is a slight difference

איזה סרטון מעניין... האמת היא שגם אני מעוניינת מזמן בפסיכולוגיה. אבל כששואלים אותי על התחביבים שלי, אף פעם לא חשבתי לדבר על זה כי תמיד חשבתי שתחביב, זה חייב להיות משהו ש"עושים". בכל מקרה, אירן נראה/נשמע מעניין מאוד 🤗 כל הכבוד על הסרטון.

תפסטא מרובה לא תפסטא, תפסטא מועט תפסטא This is an aramaic term from the gemara "one who grabs a lot fails to grab anything, one who grabs a little gets it" i.e. in this context -- don't overextend yourself when pursuing interests

I would say this also works with learning languages - start with the most important things that you will use the most and are most important - don't worry too much about small details or nuances of words initially!

It would be great if you start teaching us to beautiful Hebrew language, as the other teachers do from 0 to 100

Improving my Ivrit is my hobby. I give concerts (I'm a singer) and look for classic Israeli songs and perform them for friends and family. I look up the poets and composers and learn about Israeli culture. I'd write this in Ivrit but the mikledet is too cumbersome and hard to type!

אני דובר עברית, אבל עדיין נהנה לצפות בסרטונים שלכם :) אגב, אולי שיחות כאלה כמו בסרטונים בנושאים שונים יכולים להיות טובים ללומדי עברית וגם למשוך צופים נוספים שלוא דווקא לומדים עברית.

Great video Thank you so much, these conversations in Hebrew are really helpful :) Just a question : what does the expression כאילו mean ? I can hear it so many times without understanding what it means. In French would it be something like “en fait” ?

Hi Val, Thanks! Its kind of a filler word that you could here a lot, tough its not a "proper" Hebrew. Its more similar to "like" in English.

I'm not an expert nor native speaker of Hebrew but I think it can be understood (better) if you split the word in two: Ki כי (as) and lu לוּ (if), which indeed translates to the English (American) filler word 'like'. Best not use it too much... ;-)

דורון, חשבת אי פעם לצלם/ליצור סרטון על סוכות? לא היית צריך לעשות את זה מבחינת דתי רציני... פשוט בחו"ל, כמעט לא חוגים את סוכות (חוץ מבציבור הדתי), אז יש גם הרבה יהודים חילונים בחו"ל והרבה לא-יהודים שאף פעם לא שעמו על סוכות. אני לא יודעת עם יש להם מקום (אולי במרפסת?) לבנות סוכה, אבל אם כן, נריה לי שזה יהיה סרטון מאווווד מעניין שאפשר לצלם בסתיו.

I didn't know that Jews liked dogs. I thought dogs were considered unclean by Muslims and Jews. Do many Jews in Israel own dogs as pets?

Hi Martin, Some religious people (not all) see them as impure creatures and therefore won't have them at home. Most of the population in Israel is secular and many people have dogs(some religious families have as well). i tried a slower tempo, for the first time, but it sounds really weird , a bit slurry and drunk ha ha
