Ren's video ..Crutch... with Bibi.. is my favourite. It was done 6 years ago before his diagnosis when he was still being told it was all psychological. He just posted an update about it on his community page. It's brilliant.

Not exactly true... it was put out 6 years ago... in 2016 on his freckled angels album... he was finally diagnosed with lyme in 2015... so I believe this was actually written just prior to diagnosis when he was in a low space being sick but it was recorded and put out after diagnosis...

@@williamdrake6711 Thanks - I was only going by what Ren said on his site.....Weeks before I wrote this I had come out of multiple visits to the emergency room, I didn't know I had lyme disease yet and thought I was loosing my mind.... He goes on to say he filmed in October but doesn't really give dates or years. I appreciate the clarity.

@@williamdrake6711 Well, This was weriten and then filmed in October 2015 uploaded may 2016. at that time Ren wanted Bibi who was his girlfriend to put up a gofundme because he was in so much pain and thought it was about to be the end. Bibi did and it raised a little over 5000 and with that he got to a doctor and got diagnosed with Lyme. While Bibi did not stay with him she saved his life as Ren at that time would have never put up a go fund me. We have to thank her because she is the reason we have Ren now. Thanks

I agree. Bibi was his treasure at that time. A beautiful lady who is very talented individual herself. Must have been so painful for them. Especially as they immortalised there love through struggle in a song.

It was three times watching before I figured out they were ghosts of themselves...that's why the strange look at the books, then the light flickering in the hallway. The creak of the chair, finding something to connect you to the world...music. I too live in a ghost state of mind because of illness. This song has touched me like no other in years.

The "looking around" is Ren listening for the reverb.. Sometimes, it's good to free yourselves and just listen. Ren brings different. He shows a story from his perspective. If you relate, that's great! He is the master of starting conversations. Part of understanding a musician, is understanding them before yourself. This has been lost in the "music industry" of late. But Ren is bringing it back.

Love the reaction and your thoughts on the breakdown. I felt similar like he was wandering around the basement of a place he felt in prison; either physical or mind, my fav part is the static charge when he's under the light, seemed like entering a different zone and then the harmonies and reverb, hits harder. Well Chinchilla is just Divine...Feels like a lucky month found three new artists to dive into. Ren, Chinchilla, The Big Push. Peace.

This guy saved my hope in new music. We have to make this kid win every thing. My god. The world 🌎 needs to hear him

Also at the beginning that moment where you think he's "thinking about how to compose it on the spot" is actually just him screwing up his chords on the guitar on accident. There's supposed to be a linger on that final not but he drops his left hand on the strings just enough to cut the note short which was an unexpected accident, but as it is Ren it is flawed flawlessly.

The live is my preference as well but the studio is shouldn't be so overlooked. It too captures a unique feeling people have been stuck in.

that intro, when he's walking down the hallway and the noise is building, the light flickers and the nothing.... i interpreted that as the light being the pill, which brings you round to a more sound state of mind, hence the noise stopping. He’s drawing you in.

It's like reading a book, you're trying to understand all the plot from the first few pages, let it unfold, in it's own time the song will reveal it's meaning

I think at the start after he said the first line and he look up to think. it seems like he was roaming around the hospital finds the Chair and Guitar and just makes the song up right then and there. so it seems like he was thinking of the lyrics and wishing he could wake up someone else and not in the hospital. but that's just me thinking that.

The take away from the music and the video that I think you may have missed and maybe overthinking is that people are in depression for whatever reason and if you see the video when the lights flicker he just commited suicide whether on purpose or not, the chichilla joins him out of nowhere because she killed herself too. Habits tends to be more with drugs, and the chalk outlines is relating to crime scene or when someone's dies ie jumping off a roof etc. Walking around with chalk outline means walking around in the limbo of wanting to kill yourself and hanging onto life. It's an immensely deep and sad song. But you guys are Def more in tune with the song that others I've seen

I don’t know what his meaning is,if any, but the looks he gives just from the way I feel, it’s like whenever I do something that could be considered good or special, it’s like I pause and wait for someone to say something negative or to not approve 🤷🏼‍♂️

My take on it is they are both in the hospital (mental) He says he was sick for a long time. So they go snooping around & he finds a guitar. I think guitars are basically an extension of REN. There they are both back in the hosp. They hate being back there so they're encouraging each other because of all the emotions. You get stuck there. The medicine causes so many side affects & but you're told you need it. A lot of times they come in with your meds. Like when I was in the hosp. I finally got to sleep & they woke me up to take my meds. They have you so caught up in this medical roller coaster. When you're in the hospital away from the influence of real life you start to feel institutionalized. Your life is on a schedule with everything from your meds, meals, free time & sleep time. You want your life back but then again you're so afraid of life because you always end up right back here. Maybe you got put back in the hosp. because you were suicidal. So there's a lot of guilt & shame for that. What's the difference now here you are back at the hosp. walking around like the living dead because you're pumped back up with more meds. I don't know that's what I got out of it. I lost my son to suicide & my daughter overdosed. I taught them well.
